Goliath Monster of Legend [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-06-07, 08:48 PM Hey.. I am thinking about to build an Goliath Monster of Legend. His Classeless ECL is 1 or 3?? (I am in doubt because Goliath has LA +1 and Monster of Legend has CR +2)

08-06-07, 09:20 PM Monsters Of Legend have LA+7, not LA+2. Your Goliath would be an ECL9 creature (1 class level +8LA).

Listen +8, Search +3, Spot +8; Great Fortitude, Improved InitiativeB,
MultiattackB, Power Attack, Track; LA Base creature +7; Change to cold
and fire subtypes, haste spell. Type changes to outsider (native); monsters
of legend can be raised, reincarnated, or resurrected normally.

But it is more likely the Sample of Monster of Legend, because there are more feats (Great Fortitude, Power Attack and Track) that are not from the template and the modifications of the attributes... Or I didn´t understand a thing in the booklet?

Yes, the feats and such are corrections to the base creature. But look at the LA line: It says "LA Base creature +7". So that line applies to all Monsters of Legend, not just the sample creature.

Monster of Legend still provides CR +2. But PCs have to use the LA, which is +7 (The MM2 version didn't have an LA, so PCs couldn't use the template at all).
