So I want my current character a goliath named Iron Scar to have a stone child baby
in theory I want the strength dex and con of the stone child with the size variant feature of the goliath. since the stone child is stronger than goliaths i see it as the best of both worlds but how would the traits work out cause i don't know I am a newb:weep:

While the Stonechild is the offspring of a mortal and an elemental - it doesn't gain any of the benefits of the mortal parent.

If your DM can allow the Stonechild to gain the psuedo-large size from its Goliath parent - however, if I did I would probably increase its LA by one (to a +5 LA class with 2 monster HD) which means that it could only be played at 7th level or higher.

Well i guess your right i will ask my dm what he thinks.. if i cant to that then i will prob reinvent the wheel and do a half giant goliath or something like that

Try a Goliath/Mineral Warrior! I think the two make perfect sense together. Plus, they are both powerful LA +1s -- giving you a very powerful +2!

Str +6
Dex -2
Con +6
Int -2
Wis -2
Cha -2
Powerful Build
NA +3
DR 8/adamantine
Plus some other goodies!

All for +2 LA -- that's a bargain!

Actually, seeing as how power in D&D grows exponentially and not linearly stacking two LA+1s usually produces a sub-par result. This might just make it into a real +2 though, the Mineral warrior is nice.

It's a template from the book Underdark, which is a part of the FR setting. The fluff is that your character was born/raised/grew up underground and has become almost stone-like, hence the NA and DR. It is a very powerful template, especially for tanks.

No, you have the fluff wrong. Its actually painfully easy to get the template. I belive it is the result of a 4th? level wizard spell.

Been toying with a goliath wereguard bat with the menerial warrior template.

Dr 10/ silver + Dr 8/ adamantine = Dr 8/- = :} (With +10 str, +10 dex +8 con +2 wis, large size with powerfull build. Dodge, mobility and spring attack as bonus feats, No fly speed though, damn mineral warrior. But it qualifies for warshapper with 1 level of barbarian or fighter) {Edit: Dosnt work :{ Stupid monstrou humanoid type!}

True. Thanks for correcting me. I'm not sure where I made that up! Maybe I was thinking of another template.

I dug around Underdark to learn more... It's actually a 6th level spell; and, you have to serve the caster that "mineralized" you for a year and a day. The only early release from servitude is if the caster creates more than his allowed HD worth of Mineral Warriors. Definitely some interesting role-playing options available here.

Unfortunately, Underdark is not open content, so you'll have to buy/borrow it to get the full details. If you borrow it, be sure to read both the entry on the Mineral Warrior and the spell entry Mineralize to get the full flavor.

Fortunately, the template is in the Excerpt (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20031003e).

However, the spell isn't.

yeah we are doing a gestalt pirate themed campaign and I am the master at arms I am a goliath Fighter12/Warblade 11/Master of nine 2 and My max damage in a single blow was a critical on warleaders charge with my legacy weapon a fire giant's great sword that magicly doubles in size (no penalty to holder) and I did like 140 pts of damage it was sick Gestalt Is my fav. way to play everyone is a damn superhero

When Ever I have the weapon sheet in front of me I am gonna post my legacy weapon to see if it is wayyyy over powered cause our DM is really liberal but he makes the baddies hardcore.

Actually, the mineral warrior was a preview. Run a search on WOC's website and it should come up. That's how I got the stats.

Be seeing you!
