larry_the_titan 09-22-07, 01:32 PM	Spellscale is literally one of the best if not the best race for Warmages or sorcerers or any other cha based caster. It gets a bonus to charisma and several abilities that stack with spells you use.
The_Shaman 09-22-07, 01:46 PM	If the grey elf counts, so does the sun elf... and the star elf (Unapproachable east) as well. Also, I think the 3.0 Vanara from OA make decent warmages, but the racial ability modifiers were nixed in the 3.5 version. If you can tolerate LA (as in, you can buy it off), the feytouched and especially the half-fey from Fiend Folio are great. The half-fey are imo nearly overpowered, even as they are a +2 LA race with -2 to constitution.

j3st3r 09-23-07, 02:29 PM	Douh, I remembered that warmage uses INT, not CHA as the main casting ability, since they even have to prepare their spells... All the other classes have bonuses to INT, so they also aren't necessary the best choices for a warmage.

I'll try to be more careful in the future. I know how annoying it is to get false information. Never played a warmage before (and never will.. rather choose battle sorcerer :P).

He has the highest AC, Init. mod and damage output (most of the time), out of the six in the party, incl my Goliath Warblade. And he's the first arcane caster i've played.:D

Catfolk would be good class but not as effective as the Aasimar because the latter race has +2 Cha and Wis which are both necessary for level of spells and the other for spell difficulty or DC. The CatFolk +4 DEX +Cha.
The_Shaman 09-25-07, 01:41 PM	Wisdom isn't that important for a warmage... at least if the warmage doesn't use the Arcane Disciple feat to get a domain or two. Then it becomes great.
Japan_the_cougar 09-25-07, 02:27 PM	imo, regardless of the cha penalty, warforged is still a decent choice for warmage. But, if you can handle the +1 LA, aasimar is a great choice: it gets nothing but stat bonuses and energy resistances.
