Manyfist 07-15-07, 10:52 AM	I don't think there is a good template for spell casters. Since spell casters aren't very well with LAs.

Since he's an NPC (and not a PC), you can get away with this as a viable threat. Half-dragon is great, it grants energy immunity, which means he can drop spells on himself when the fighters get close. It also grants flight, which is extremely useful in the right terrain (have him blow a hole in a ceiling, fly up through it, then rain death down on the party with a +4 cover bonus they can't circumvent easily). There's also vampire. This one grants a boatload of resistances and immunities, but also gives him very specific weaknesses. I wouldn't recommend this one, since vampire weaknesses are well-known.
Eshenaleros 07-15-07, 03:17 PM	well, if you want a charisma based spellcaster the best one is draconic, because it gives a bonus on str, con, and cha. however, if you want a wisdom based caster, lycanthrope because of the +2 wisdom bonus (however this may turn it into a battle mage thingie... oh wait, clerics and druids are already just that), or finally i can only think of one template that grants an intelligence bonus, half-dragon. of course, this isn't taking into acount half-fiend and half-celestial, both of which have crazy bonuses to most (if not all) stats
