| Wulfgast06-19-07, 12:22 AM | Just a quick question -- is anyone aware of a way to grant a character a racial trait that they wouldn't normally qualify for, either through magic items, feats, or some other form of trickery? It can't just be an LA, because the character already exists. If it helps, I'm trying to figure out how to get Powerful Build on a warforged. I'd like to get him qualifying for Knockback without being large. Many thanks in advance. I have tons of books, but no idea where to start looking for something like this. |

Here's the explaination I would use; Explorers in xen'drik brought back a bizarre gollem which was taken by House Cannith and reverse engineered into the warforged. You are an early prototype and was rendered inert until awakened by Merrix for experimentation, but you escaped into a strange world where people expext you to be some kind of soldier for a war you never heard of. |

Because you stated the character already exists, rewriting it could be a problem, but the addition of magic items or spells to increase your size may work. There is a problem with either of these, anti-magic fields would make you loose the size and use of the feats that depend on it. The other option you may look at is the Warforged Charger from the MMIII. |

But as Mentar mentioned, I've already started playing this character, so I don't think there's a way to get Powerful Build in there without some heavy DM bribing. He's been pretty generous so far, so I probably won't even push for it. That also means the Charger is out of the question at this point, too. The easiest solution at this point, I think, would be to slap Brutal Surge on his weapon. Not as useful as Knockback, but it works. Here was another idea, although bordering on cheesy -- the Strongarm Bracers allow you to wield a weapon one size category larger than normal, which is the same effect granted by Powerful Build (correct me if I'm wrong). Could that fulfill the prerequisite for Knockback? I somehow doubt it, personally. |
