| G_Mancer06-08-07, 02:01 AM | is there a way via, feat/PrC/Item, a grimlock can see past 40ft? |
| Thomar_of_Uointer06-08-07, 07:18 PM | Well, apparently darkvision grants flat darkvision out to 60', despite the grimlock's blindness. So would goggles of darkvision. The touchsight power, after augmentation, lets a grimlock boost the range of his blindsight. The clarivoyant sense power grants sight and says nothing about blindness. Scrying specifically says it lets you see things in its effect. |
| Mai_ariti06-09-07, 12:05 PM | Personally, I'd rule that the Blindfold of True Darkness (Magic Item Compendium) would boost the Blindsight range by 30ft instead of giving 30ft Blindsight. There is also a Blindsight spell (Savage Species?) perhaps that would do the trick, it provides a 30ft Blindsight ability. Taken all together this Grimlock would have a 100ft Blindsight radius. Not bad in the Underdark. If you're a wizard, get a animal with good vision as a familiar and use the ability to look through it's eyes. Really good if you have an eagle on the surface or a bat underground. Put it 40ft in front of you and, bingo, instant binoculars. |

| Mai_ariti06-10-07, 09:32 AM | Sorry, turn of phrase we use in our game, I mean tha the wizard can use a combination of the familiar abilities to 'see' (between empathic link, speak with familiar, and scry). |

The former is just silly, and the latter is clearly meant to create an image in the focus mirror or water. Clairvoyant sense is also debatable. |
| Thomar_of_Uointer06-11-07, 12:34 AM | wizards can see through their familiars eyes? i did not know this... No, but the familiar can warn you of enemies out of your blindsight. At higher levels (when you have the speak with familiar ability), it can simply tell you what square your opponent is in. As a wizard, you usually don't need to worry about concealment because you just get to toss fireballs and lightning bolts in the general direction of your enemies (although these are admittedly subpar tactics for a wizard). |
| Perun06-11-07, 01:29 AM | Why not make a racial feat that would increase grimlock's blindsight for 10 or 20 feet? Improved Blindsight [Racial] Your keen senses increase your blindsight range. Prerequisites: Grimlock, Wis 13 Benefit: Your blindsight range increases by 10 feet. Special: You can take this feat multiple times and its effect stack. Thus, if you take Improved Blindsight twice, you blindsight range will increase by 20 feet. A couple of notes: Wis prerequisite is there to represent keener senses (since sense are affected by Wis in D&D) I don't think the feet would be unbalanced if it allowed for a 20-ft. blindsight increases Hope it helps. |
| Kesuk2k506-11-07, 07:57 AM | Improved Blindsight [General] Your blindsight improves. Prerequisites: Blindsight special quality. Benefit: The range of your blindsight increases by half. Feat is fixed. |
| TheAngryFish06-11-07, 08:11 AM | [list] Wis prerequisite is there to represent keener senses (since sense are affected by Wis in D&D) Which is why a 90-year-old human has ears and eyes like a wolf :) |
