The half celestial and half fiend templates can both be found in the MM, page 148. I have the distinct impression that half fiend got the low end of the stick. They get 6 statpoints less, to name one thing.

Any opinions on the matter? I am to DM a game with alternate player races, and I would like to know if I missed anything. My impression is that balancing things out would be to give the half fiend the same stat modifiers as the celestial.

Input needed.

OK
1. They only take 4 point hit vs the half celestial

Other than that they get the same number of bonuses... not that there special abilities will help a pc more than a half celestials special abilities because they dont. I think the reason that they don't get the 4 points is that there fiend side dosn't bless its offspring like the celestial one does his or her's.
On that note I see Half fiend as a bad guy/ dm tool more than a pc race but thats just me.

Half-Celestials get a Wisdom bonus and superior flying abilities, but more defensive (aka crappier) spell-like abilities.

This is partly balanced by the fact that Half-Fiends get three natural weapons, which is an incredible advantage at low levels and more offensive power.

All-in-all, I think it's fairly even. The half-celestials focus on thriving, the half-fiends focus on killing. I would probably have given the half-fiends a 2 point Str increase, which should be enough to level the field and emphasize their more savage natures.
