Anyone ever think about this concept.. and i dont mean how they came about i mean how they would be executed mechanic wise. What are some of your thoughts?

The only way I think this could work is having a humanoid who has the bottom of a satyr. Although, maybe try making something like different upper halves, instead of just the standard centaur upper half of a human, maybe have a half-orc/orc with a horse body, or an elf. hehe, a gnomish/halfling centaur would be funny, they would be mini.

How is that different than a... umm... satyr?

While there is such a thing as a "quarter horse", that's not what it means.

Well, when I said the lower half of a satyr, I meant that he would have hooved feet, and prob have back problems(hence being bent slightly at the waist), but w/o the horns and tendency to dance around playing pipes.

The Monster Manual (page 273) has different races that consist of the body of a centaur with the head of a horse.

Maybe it would be a smaller centaur, say using the light horse stats and the tauric creature template from SSpecies (centaurs are a near-perfect rendition of a heavy horse-humanoid hybrid). You could even have them medium, for more mechanical differences.

A half centaur would be either a horse or a man. A centaur is half-horse, half-man, half of a whole made of two halves is one of those halves.

Its not rocket science. You're looking for a human or a horse.

Now if you're talking about mixing a centaur with another species (magically I hope) then you're going to come up with some very strange looking creatures.

The back half would most likely be hairless and the skin over-all would be the same. The feet would be something wierd like a mix of hooves and feet.

Wouldn't that be a horse?

I came to this thread for the sole purpose of making that joke, dammit.

What about a ¼ horse and ¾ human? or ¾ horse and ¼ human?

I'd say anything that came from that kind of coupling would be deformed and useless. Not every race in DnD needs to be able to combine to make something cool.

this sounds interesting

If it's half-centaur, it would be a quarter horse, a quarter human, half whatever the base creature is.

good point, centaurs are cool already, they dont need to be made into a template(although to each his own, it just doesnt seem like it will work well at all)

what would the stats of a small or medium sized centaur be?
