| shadow_brian2209-09-07, 06:28 PM | I just played a game called "Demon Stone" based on the forgotten realms campaign setting. In it, there was a half drow-half woodelf. Im wanting to create this race but am having difficulties. Has anybody ever made this race before, or could give me some good ideas for it? Oh, i can have a level adjustment for it. |
| The_Shaman09-09-07, 06:36 PM | I think RoFaerun, if not other sources, have specialized that in elf-elf interbreeding the offspring have a 50-50 chance to function as either parent. If that's not okay, I think there was a webarticle with the drow as a monstrous progression - perhaps you could use the wood elf as a base and give them the first drow level for a (possibly underpowered) LA+1 |
| Zémobiel09-10-07, 12:36 PM | it's also stated in a FR book (Drow of the Underdark secound edition) that drow who breed with an other elf the result will always be drow. It's corellon curse who pass trought blood |
| The_Shaman09-10-07, 03:22 PM | Really? That is quite curious. However, I thought that Drow of the Underdark is a general supplement, only Underdark is FR-specific. Can someone share more on the topic? I do not have DotU. |

They just reused the title for the general 3rd edition book. Regarding elf unions between subraces, the child usually have a visual appearance about halfway between his two parents' subraces, with a 50/50 chance of having either subrace's racial traits. In the case of drow, however, the child will almost always be a full drow in look as well as in stats, as the curse gets passed down from the parent to the child. At least, that's how it is in the Forgotten Realms. |
| reaper508109-11-07, 05:09 PM | I wasn't aware of that, I don't have the 2e book. |
| shadow_brian2209-11-07, 08:05 PM | im planning on looking like a drow, im just not wanting some of the abilities like especially the +2 LA, any help? |
| Borris09-11-07, 08:19 PM | Then use the stats for a wood elf but the physical appearance of a drow. It make sense that the curse would give you a drow's dark skin, but the spell resistance and spell-like abilities might not show themselves unless both of your parents grew up in faerzess-infused regions. After all, half-human drow don't get any special abilities. |
| The_Shaman09-12-07, 05:23 PM | That, or just substitute LLV for darkvision 60 - it's been done already in the half-elf -> half-drow case. |
| shadow_brian2209-15-07, 12:10 AM | im wanting some of the bonuses from drow, just not all of em, like SR or sell-like abilities... maybe that would get rid of LA |
| shadow_brian2209-15-07, 10:01 PM | bump |
| reaper508109-16-07, 11:43 AM | I had a +0 LA drow here on the boards, just look around in the races section. The title was "+0 LA Drow" I think. Hope this helps :D |
