| vegetalss405-13-07, 06:37 AM | Over 9,000. no the quesi diety are not so powerful |
| KurenaiYami05-13-07, 06:49 AM | No, the quasi-deities are not that powerful. Eh. They get increased speed, maximum hit points per hit die, an awesome bonus to AC, are immune to transmutation, energy drain, ability drain, ability damage, mind-affecting effects, decent damage reduction, good energy resistance, great spell resistance, and is immortal (not needing to eat, sleep, breathe). So uh...more than +10. I don't want to give the specifics due to the OGL thing, but...I seem to recall something in Savage Species being mentioned for calculating LA. I'll see what I can find. ----------------------------------Edit-------------------------------------- From the looks of things, it's going to be hard to map unless you give us what the quasi-deity is beforehand, because a lot of the bonuses are dependant on the character itself, like whether or not it has a good Charisma or if it has any Outsider hit dice. ----------------------------Double Edit------------------------------------- Energy Resistance gives it a +1/2, Spell Resistance gives it a +1. DR 10/Epic I would probably give at least a +2, but your mileage may vary. Maxed Hit Points per level I would, again, make at least +2, since it adds even more to the insane surviveability of this thing. The long list of awesome immunities I'd give +1 or +2. Immortality you basically can get just by being an Outsider, so I wouldn't make that change anything. So that's +7 1/2 before dealing with the Armor Class bonuses they get depending on Outsider Hit Dice and charisma, as well as speed increase which really depends on what it's increasing from. I'm not sure how you deal with that. |

Someone acid tested the quasi-deity template on the Optimization board and they reached the conclusion that +6 LA should be sufficient. Increased speed is good, but not completly wacked out Maximum hit points per die? Well, good, but still not that good Immunities are what really pushes the template above and if you use divine ability scores... then your in for a run for your money as a DM |

Acid test is probably a better way to determine all this, assuming they did it right. |
| vegetalss405-13-07, 07:24 AM | so 6+?? |
| KurenaiYami05-13-07, 07:38 AM | so 6+?? Nope, just +6. Unless that's what you meant. Then yes. |
| Gemstone05-13-07, 07:40 AM | so 6+?? do an acid test. Take a level 6 character and apply the quasi-deity template. take the same character but at level 12, without template and see how they perform :) Compare AC, Attack, damage etc. |
| GAMBLE_d1305-13-07, 07:45 AM | LA +6 is more than enough, most of the abilities become obsolete at higher levels, making +6 a heavy price to pay... |
| vegetalss405-13-07, 07:47 AM | what does obsolete means?? |
| ArochanoX05-13-07, 08:47 AM | Meaningless, useless, too minor to be valuable. Like the fire resistance. The quasi-deity template is indeed often used as a LA +6 template, but it's often used as an epic template, so a prerequirement for that feat could be 20 HD or more. |
| Jaxgaret05-13-07, 12:26 PM | Also known as Divine Rank 0 (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/divine/divineRanksAndPowers.htm#rank0), Quasi-Deities have been calculated and acid tested to be just about an LA +6. Link to another short thread on the subject: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=777259 Keep in mind that the template is very defensively oriented. Your character build selection then almost needs to be focused on offensive production [or perhaps support], or else your character will basically be close to nigh-invulnerable but not very able to reasonably contribute in battle. |

| penchant05-13-07, 07:56 PM | You are talking about half gods and not necessarliy demigods. Hercules would be an example of a half god and he didn't have half of what a DivR 0 template has. You can use the half celestail template for a +4 LA, Paragon for a class alternative or even just a unique bogie for a singular character. Hercules was known primarily for his strength and you can give an uber strength bonus by itself for a LA of just 2 or 3. Perseus was also half god (half brother to Hercules or Heracles depending on your preference) and didn't have nearly as cool stuff. He mostly got an inheritance later in life. Half gods should each be unique and not a universal template IMHO. |
| Jon of the North05-13-07, 10:28 PM | what does obsolete means?? Base definition: no longer in use or no longer useful. Example: 8-track tapes. Or cassette tapes. theoretical situation: Race 1 gets DR 2 as part of it's +6 LA. But if the was 6 levels higher, he would most likely have access to spells/ items/ class abilities granting DR 5 or more. So the DR 2 is nice at first, but later the player will regret the level cost. |
