| nighttree07-12-07, 01:01 AM | Do Hellbred recieve the "human" bonus feat at 1st level ? |
| Crimson_Concerto07-12-07, 01:31 AM | No. They're awkwardly-designed conceptually, yes, and I think they should have been a template, but if I recall correctly, as it stands, they're a unique race. |
| nighttree07-12-07, 09:38 AM | I guess "in a way" the bonus "Devil-touched" feat counts as the human bonus feat.....they just don't have a "choice" in the feat. |
| zook1shoe66607-13-07, 01:20 PM | I think they should have been a template agreed they more or less are a human that gets different abilities due to the "Hellbred template". i prefer them over humans because i believe humans suck a** compared to many other races. they are too generalized. |
| Lordofthe907-13-07, 02:47 PM | i prefer them over humans because i believe humans suck a** compared to many other races. they are too generalized. Bonus feat, no negative ability modifiers, and extra skills? Not that bad if you ask me... It's all a matter of taste in the end, but I can't see knocking humans for being too generalized. |
| zook1shoe66607-13-07, 11:55 PM | they're too generalized... i would rather find a race that is better suited for the class i am looking at... AND who would want to rp a human.... since i assume we all are in real life ;) |
| Visigo7h07-14-07, 02:29 AM | I think they should have been a template, but if I recall correctly, as it stands, they're a unique race. You are Correct. I agree they should have been a template with how they were written, but alas they aren’t. they're too generalized... i would rather find a race that is better suited for the class i am looking at... It is all a mater of preference, I have found more then once that I needed that 1 feat to make my character work. I am actually in an epic game right now where I was planning on being a Gnome, but for the concept to work I had to be a human because I needed the skills and feat.... Though that is about to change as Glitergold is changing me into a Gnome because I hummer him so greatly. :) AND who would want to rp a human.... since i assume we all are in real life ;) And I always Thought I was an Orc... you live, you learn... :P |
| sigma99907-14-07, 02:50 AM | Yes Hellbred as a LA+0 template. Might see one here somewhere in the next week or so, if someone is driven to make it. Could be a good alternative to the stale Tiefling race with or without their LA+0 variant. |
| Pantorts07-14-07, 04:33 AM | Glitergold is changing me into a Gnome because I hummer him so greatly Does this mean what I think it means? |
| ragoftag07-14-07, 08:41 AM | Does anyone have exp with Helbred in game? It seems like an interesting diversion, but I'm too tired to ponder its possibilities... |
| zook1shoe66607-14-07, 10:03 AM | i played a hellbred paladin/cavalier that rode a dragonnel mount. he looked like Tim Curry in Legend, while wearing golden armor. |
| Visigo7h07-14-07, 02:09 PM | Does this mean what I think it means? I meant to say humor, but at 1am, I apparently can’t type or proofread. Does anyone have exp with Helbred in game? It seems like an interesting diversion, but I'm too tired to ponder its possibilities... In the epic game (before playing my human gone gnome) I played a Hellbred Meleeficer who grafted parts of demons he captured and then killed onto himself. It was fun and would have been more fun if it really would have been a helldive like the DM told us it was going to be at first. It was a bit difficult to play because we had a problem with how do things respond to you and how much do you remember about your past life to know why you are fighting against hell. Mechanically they run well, and they have some things that would make them a good players race, but there story doesn’t sink up with just being a race. Here is how I think that a Hellbred should be treated. Though writing this made me realize why they did it the way they did. Hellbred is an acquired template that can be added to any evil humanoid or monstrous humanoid creature (referred to hereafter as the base creature) that has just died in an attempt to redeem himself with the gods of good and justice. A Hellbred has all the base creature’s statistics and special abilities except as noted here. Size and Type: The creature’s type changes to Humanoid (Hellbred). Hellbred are human despite their monstrous appearance. The creature’s size is unchanged. Special Qualities: Evil Exception (Ex), Hellbound (Su), Infernal Aspect (Ex or SU) all as explained in Fiendish Codex 2. Abilities: As base Creatures Feats and Skills: +2 racial bonus on Intimidate. Gain the Devil’s Favor feat even if you do not meet the prerequisites. Base Creature gains the ability to speak Infernal and Paladin as favored class. LA: +1. Because it is a template that gives a bonus feat and abilities, to allow a character to keep there base abilities and gain this would be way more then a +0 LA The Scourging: As described in the book for physical, but mentally they remember the pain they caused others and feel the unyielding need to prevent others from feeling such pain. They regain all classes, skills, and feats as before they were killed. However, they may give up levels of other classes and change them to Paladin levels instead. Any vile feats that they may have had in past life may be exchanged for regular feats that they meat the prerequisites for. |

| StevenO07-15-07, 02:31 PM | Hellbred are there own race as has already been noted. Perhaps Hellbred could have been made into a template but it works as a stand alone race. These are just souls who have formed new bodies and while those bodies aren't like the ones they previously had the two different paths give you some options on how they'd develope. |
| Mai_ariti07-16-07, 11:56 AM | As a question, how is this going to be added to a character? Can it only happen at character creation or will there be a % chance that resurection does this to an evil character. When my PCs die, I don't let them just spontaniously arise after repenting their evil ways. . . |
| zook1shoe66607-16-07, 12:29 PM | don't ask me i didn't make the template :-p i like the % chance on resurrection, but it could be incorporeated into character creation for an above 1st-level character. |
| Shedeo07-16-07, 05:39 PM | The way that I would do it as a pseudo-template, ala the Dragonborn from Races of the Dragon. You lose all your other racial stuff, but gain all the Hellborn stuff. |
