help on weird sneaky character built [Archive] - Wizards Community

since I did not really have feeling for my current character (Githzerai sorcerer, don't ask why), the DM allowed me to make another (evil) character, ECL 7. I want to go for a rogue, a rather versatile one. I've been searching the boards for a while now, but want to ask how you think about any of these:

as base characters a pixie, a skulk, a tiefling or maybe a whisper gnome seems nice.

as templates I want to go for the dark creature, shadow walker, shadow creature, or maybe even half-fiend or half-dragon (ability to fly; but simply just due to flavour), and maybe throw in the Olidammara-touched (+6 int/+6 dex, move silently bonus, ventriloquism, LA+1)(though I probably change it into a Cyric- or Mask-touched since we play in the FR).
probably a couple of 'em.
now I don't need your opinion on this amalgam of templates and the impossibilities or silly randomness it suggests. that's where the DM comes in..

I thought of the following options:

LA +5, so I can add two levels of rogue

- Cyric-touched pixie (an evil pixie)
the shadow-walker and show creature templates don't really enhance the pixie since it is invisible.
LA +5, two levels of rogue.

- Dark whisper gnome
LA+1, 6 levels of rogue
with shadow creature/shadow walker template
LA resp. +3/+2, rest rogue levels

what do you think would be the best sneaky (yet versatile) bastard?

01-18-08, 02:00 PM Personally, I would go with a build with minimal LA. You're already squishy, and LA doesn't help. I've always been a huge fan of the Dark template. I'm currently playing a Dark Halfing Rogue. He's really nifty, and HiPS is definitely worth the +1 LA. Just a Dark Whisper Gnome, no other templates, might be good.

01-18-08, 04:41 PM I'm not familiar with the other two, but pixie would be a good choice. Flight and invisibility provide versatility and stealth.
