| Aricanius05-11-07, 07:06 AM | A character is a pixie with LA +6, can that character take 5 levels of pixie (earning a HD every level) and then take 3 class levels and be considered ECL 8? Do they have 5d6 + 2d8 hp? How many skills points? Feats? I thought someone like this would be limited to being class level 2, with no racial class because it's a 1 HD monster. |

The pixie has a level adjustment, meaning that it has "empty levels" to make up for its immensely powerful abilities. No racial hit dice. No saving throw bonuses. No skill points. If the person chooses to take fey hit dice, they can, but they must do so in addition to the level adjustment (not instead of it). Why someone would play the LA+6 version of the pixie I will never understand. It gets an absolutely tremendous amount of power at LA+4 (enough to make it LA+8 if used properly), yet Otto's Irrisistable Dance once per day is not worth the extra 2 sacrificed levels (even if it is an 8th level spell). Their skill points will be determined by the class levels (or fey levels) taken. They will gain feats and ability score bonuses based on their total number of hit dice (again, LA does not count as hit dice; it only affects experience (XP), starting wealth, and the ECL used when placing it with a party). |

LA doesn't give HD or any fuction thereof, such as increased BAB, and you have to take all the levels in a monster class. You last statement is correct (provided I read it right :) ) A pixie with ECL 8 will only have two 'real' class levels, which means 2 HD, 1 feat (the starting feat), a max skill rank of 5, and everything the pixie provides (ability bonuses, special ablities, bonus feat, ect). |
| Sternenschwinge05-11-07, 08:20 AM | I suggest you play 3.5: MMII: Pixie has LA of +4 (+6) and one Hit Die (D6). For further information look into the book. |
