| ShadowSpartan03-18-07, 09:00 PM | A man stands in front of you; his head is where the shoulders of most men are. He is wearing light leather armor and a maroon sash that holds a short scimitar. Above a red cloth that covers the face are a pair of dark eyes that are full of misfortune and aggony. The mas has a spear in his right and a small buckler on his left. These people are short, athletic people that live in the harshest deserts. they are fierce warriors that have been hardened by centuries of war. dark hair and eyes are common among their race. All the members of the race have a fiery temper, and once fueled doesn't quiet down for a while. i have the basics but i need some help. I dont know any of their customs, or racial traits, or even what to call them!! if anyone has some ideas or anything else that this race might sound like please respond!! all help and criticism appreciated! |
| morbid_freak03-18-07, 09:08 PM | So far I see them as humans. |
| bobothechimp03-18-07, 09:09 PM | Human? |
| ShadowSpartan03-18-07, 09:49 PM | they might sound a little nit like humans but i picture them being about as tall as elves, but a little bit more body mass |
| bobothechimp03-18-07, 11:14 PM | Humans. |
| WinterPsionic03-19-07, 02:06 PM | they might sound a little nit like humans but i picture them being about as tall as elves, but a little bit more body mass ....don't you mean as SHORT as elve's? Check the height vales for the 2, tyical Human's are taller... Sound like a short slightly pudgy human to me. |

Just a heads up, when your going to call somebody on their grammar, make sure you spell everything correctly. However, I assume it's probably a shorter human, my bet however on the class would be a swordsage using Desert Wind manuevers. |
| Slaith03-20-07, 12:10 PM | Well are they nomatic? or do they stay close to an oaises all the time? do they have a rite to man/womenhood? |
| Thomar_of_Uointer03-20-07, 12:21 PM | Humans, with Endurance taken at first level. Possibly a human subrace if you're really going to give them distinct physiological alterations like only needing 1/4 as much food and water, or energy resistance 5 against nonlethal fire damage. http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/races/environmentalRacialVariants.htm#desertRa ces |
| ShadowSpartan03-22-07, 06:38 PM | i was going to have them eat and drink less, and yes, they are nomadic. There right to manhood/womanhood... maybe something like going out to kill a creature and bringing back it's head? i dont know. im kinda modling them off the aiel from the Wheel of Time series just with different customs and not so tall. |
| kelvinaw27303-22-07, 07:13 PM | Apply the Desert terrain adaptation from UA to normal humans, maybe add some abilities to replace the human Quick to Learn ability. Culture and nature are up to you. Sounds like a sort of arabic-feel to it, and a predominantly Chaotic alignment. |

Sounds good (like that series, even though the aiel are basically rip offs of the fremen from dune), I would just stick with human (aiel are human after all). I would give them some moral code, and have them go to a forbidden place or on a vision-quest type thing in the desert. I have the rulebook for WoT roleplaying (never used it:( ). maybe give them some +1 to will saves and +2 to intimidate and survival skills. If you want to make them stealthy too that might be an idea...give them a favored class (dessert-type ranger maybe) or something else to try and balance out those little boosts. |

Not cool enough. Vulcans (yeah, Star Trek) have to stand at this big pillar in the middle of the desert, walk 10,000 steps away from it blindfolded, then turn around and walk back, and when they're done they should be able to reach out and exactly touch the pillar. :D |
| ShadowSpartan03-22-07, 11:05 PM | is there a class for maiden of the spear in the WoT handbook? ive been wondering what they get. Anywhayshow do i make up for how fast they are in the novels, do i give them an ECL of 1 or 2 and give them a 10 ft. bonus to speed, as well as some skill bonuses, and toughness. I could get rid of the human bonus feat, and skill points to balance it out as well. |
