So it has been awhile since I have worked on this and want opinions as to what people think should happen with them. The original goal was to make a race that was large without a LA, and I took up the challenge and created the Hitakand. So here they are:

-------- Hitakand --------
Personality:
The Hitakand race are an intillectual bunch. The tend to be curious and want to learn every reason behind every action. When greeted for the first time by a new friendly race, the Hitakand tend to shake hands and hold the hand of this new race a little longer trying to study it.

Physical Description:
Hitikand stand between 7 and 8 feet tall and usually weigh between 200 and 280 pounds. A Hitakand, from the front seems to be a taller, thinner humanoid, but when veiwed from the side you realize they have two long legs coming out of their lower back. These legs help for support in the swampy areas they call home. Their skin tone is anywhere from light grey to dark grey, with spots located on their back, tops of their back legs, tops of their hands, and backs of their front legs. These spots range in color most comon are dark red, orange, brown, and black. The spots can even vary in color on each individual. Hitakand eyes can be any color. Hitakands can grow hair, but most choose to shave it off and proudly show their spots.

Relations:
Because of their curious demeanor, the Hitakand get along with most of the other races, however Half-orcs tend to dislike, but deal with, the Hitakands.

Alignment:
Hitakand lean more towards any neutral.

Hitakand Lands:
Hitakand find home in swampy areas. Tho alot of the time, Hitakands will wonder off to gain more knowledge.

Religion:
Hitakand have no defind religion, but some will adopt another race's religion if they find that race in particular interesting.

Language:
Hitakand speak Hitakan and Common. They enjoy learning new languages, and no language is beyond them to learn.

Names:
A Hitakand will be given a birth name, and use that till teenage years. When he grows old enough he will choose a name for himself. That name normally imitates a name from another race.

Hitakand Racial Traits:
* Monstrous Humanoid
* +2 Intelligence, -2 Constitution: Hitakand are smart but frail.
* Large (long and lean): Hitakand are considered large, but like centaurs lack the reach of most other large beings. Also do to there lean physique can't wield large weapons and wield medium weapons and the total weight carried in a load does not change from the medium standard. -1 Size Modifier, +4 Grapple Modifier, -4 Hide Modifier
* Quadruped: Hitakands are exceptionally stable because of their four legs. A Hitakand has a +4 bonus on ability checks made to resist being bull rushed or tripped when standing on the ground (but not when climbing, flying, riding, or otherwise not standing firmly on the ground).
* Hitakand base land speed is 40 feet.
* Low-Light vision
* Automatic Languages: Hitakan and Common. Bonus languages: Any, other than special languages like Druidic.
* Favored class: Ranger.

Weird.

Anyways, you did a good job keeping them Large (Long), which is like Powerful Build but with all the penalties. Unfortunately, they have 40' movement and an Intelligence bonus, which together make them LA +1.

Dang it, you know you are right. If I changed that to a swamp walk ability, like can move at normal speeds in swampy area where others would not be able to.

A bonus to mental ability scores almost always warrants a level adjustment.

How about the simple ability to ignore movement penalties (but not attack penalties) when up to half-immersed in water, and the ability to ignore terrain that has become difficult due to excessive moisture?

I like it. But maybe need to find a way to simplify the way it is said.

Mmm...

Swampwalker (Ex): Foo can ignore movement penalties incurred by deep water and mired terrain as long as it is standing. It still suffers penalties to attack and damage rolls, and moves only half its speed while swimming.
