| Draac12-01-07, 09:19 AM | The Libris Mortis states: "Any equipment worn or carried by an incorporeal creature is also incorporeal as long as it remains in the creature’s possession. An object that the creature relinquishes loses its incorporeal quality (and the creature loses the ability to manipulate the object). If an incorporeal creature uses a thrown weapon or a ranged weapon, the projectile becomes corporeal as soon as it is fired and can affect a corporeal target normally (no miss chance). (This information does not appear in the Monster Manual, but is part of the updated description of the incorporeal subtype in Monster Manual III.) An incorporeal creature only shares its incorporeal nature with objects that it actually holds, carries, or wears. Once the object leaves its possession, the object becomes corporeal." Using the 'Ghostly Grasp' feat an incorporeal creature can use corporeal items, but these items do not change their physical state and stay corporeal. Is it possible for an incorporeal being (not taking spells like "Forced Manifestation" from Ghostwalk into account, where maybe taken/held objects change into an incorporeal state, when the being de-manifestates) to take objects onto his incorporeal body - and if it is, how? An incorporeal being might be interested in restacking his named thrown, ranged or projectile weapons or even be looking for spell components, which don't have to be let behind, when walking through the next wall. I couldn't find anything about this topic, so thanks for your help. :) |

I couldn't find anything about this topic, so thanks for your help. :) Weapons are easy. The Ghost Touch property states that, when wielded by an inorporeal creature, the weapons are incorporeal. There's even a material that gives anything made out of it the Ghost Touch property (though I can't remember the name of it right now). It doesn't help for spell components, but most anything else is covered. |

The material you were looking for is probably "Ectoplasm", which can be formed into or applied onto any kind of objects to give it the ghost touch ability for a certain amount of time. So if I understand the rules correctly, for an incorporeal creature to take things into "incorporeality" it must be able to manifest, and change his physical state (at least temporally) to corporeal - for example using the "Full Manifestation" Feat or the "Forced Manifestation" spell. But using these options, it should be possible, as all objects on the creature are changed to an incorporeal state with de-manifestation? |

| Grizzled Gryphon12-03-07, 08:19 PM | Your welcome. However, I have to say that I don't claim this to be RAW. This is just how I would adjudicate this particular situation. I have never had a player, or played an incorpereal creature, so I haven't actually had this come up. But, what I said before seems to make sense, and if there are any flaws or problems, I don't see them. |
