How many ways are there to increase a creature's INT? [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-10-07, 11:15 PM I have a feeling that this is might not be the best forum for this, but I am not really sure where this topic should go since it deals with everything from a creature's starting/base race, to any racial templates you could place on him, to any feats, skills, and/or items you could get him.

For starters, I know starting off as race with a bonus to INT and buying a headband of intellect are the most common methods of increase a creature's intelligence, but I do not know much else. Can you guys please help me out with a few template ideas (if they exist), and maybe some other advice for making my character smarter?

06-11-07, 12:07 AM Well, the Half-fiend Template gives you +4 intelligence and a variety of other goodies for LA+4. I'm sure there's a template that grants you more intelligence for lower LA, but that's the highest Int bonus template that comes to mind.

There's also racial paragon levels. The human/half-elf can choose to increase their intelligence bonus on their third level...elves and Gnomes might get an int bonus too, I'm not 100% sure.

Chameleon PrC (RoD) for some races +6 Competence bonus
Mythic Exemplar PrC (Complete Champion) +2 increase, +4 Insight bonus once/day
Paragon Classes (UA) for a few races +2 increase
Wishing or Tome of Clear Thought (DMG) +5 Inherent bonus
Best Templates: Spellwarped (MMIII, +4 INT, +3 LA)
Best Races: Gray Elves (MM), Fire Elves (UA), Deep Imaskari (FR:UD) (+2 INT, +0 LA)
Vow of Poverty feat (BoED) +8 enhancement bonus
Mark of Twelve Moons feat (Dragonmarked) +1 Inherent bonus (won't stack with Wishes/Tome)
Tatooed Monk PrC (CW) Bellflower tattoo adds CHA modifier to any ability score as an enhancement bonus (limited and doesn't stack with other enhancement bonuses)
