| Sul_Zain_Aserbet06-04-07, 08:43 PM | Is there a Huge sized race suitable for PCs? I can't find one, and i've looked pretty hard. By suitable, it has an ECL of 7 or lower. |

| Part-Human206-04-07, 10:06 PM | Treant is 7 HD + 5 LA and is the lowest ECL Huge playable monster. SS has a monster class for it. |
| Maraxus06-05-07, 03:56 AM | Yes, it's ... ridiculus ... and as a DM I would not allow it, but: Half Ogre - Afflicted Were Huge Viper is ECL 10 (6HD + 4 LA) and in Hybrid form it is a huge bipedal. |
| runestar06-05-07, 10:09 AM | You could play a psywarrior and rely on the expansion power...:P |
| malykoth06-05-07, 10:18 AM | Wu jen (base class from Complete Arcane) have access to the spell giant size...at the highest caster levels, the spell makes the caster Colossal-sized. |
| Sul_Zain_Aserbet06-05-07, 12:20 PM | Thanks guys, i apreciate it. Providing you have a generous DM who is willing to allow any backstory, i did make a way to get a huge PC at ECL 1, but its incredibly cheap. I'll go ahead and share it anyways though. 1. An effigy master makes an effigy of a storm giant. 2. The ritual of changing is cast on the effigy storm giant to change its type to giant instead of construct. 3. The effigy is level drained down to three HD. 4. Ritual of changing the effigy back to a construct. 5. Apply the Incarnate Construct template from Savage Species You now have a huge 3HD living PC with an ECL of 1 (the template actually has a -2 LA!!) with lots of strength, high HD for his level, reach, natural armor, immune to charm person, and a favored class of fighter. I call this the Brauggi build, after a 2nd edition Firbolg character i had who managed to get himself up to 100 feet tall. I posted this a while back. Pretty cool eh? This build appeals to anyone who just wants run around crushing people like the giants of old norse mythology. The only real drawback is at huge size your screwed in dungeons, everything will be super expensive for your character (in fact, at lower levels you cant even afford armor or the weapons you would like), and your ridiculously easy to hit. Edit: Oh, yeah. It also takes a very powerful caster in your backstory who had 60,000 gold to blow on two ritual of changings. |
| Part-Human206-05-07, 12:43 PM | Sul_Zain_Aserbet: You forgot to apply the LA of the Effigy and Storm Giant which are not LA 0 but rather LA - (unplayable). And the Incarnate Construct template is LA -2 minimum LA 0. |
| Maraxus06-05-07, 01:41 PM | You did what? Now this is really ridiculus. I'd say stop at the point where you are an effigy - it has no LA and from that point on it's no Player Character, no matter how you switch between construct and giant. (And that does not mean, that the rest of your story is in any way acceptable) |
| malykoth06-05-07, 02:03 PM | Yeah...with all due respect, cheating within the rules is still cheating. No DM with even a two brain cells would allow such a ludicrous abuse of the rules...even if they did ignore the "unplayable" aspects of a couple of your choices. The fact that you would have to go to such extreme lengths tells you the implausibility of it. Just be an illusionist that makes images of himself that appear Huge. |
| TamianTheRanger06-05-07, 04:59 PM | :incog: :incog: :mrt: :incog: :incog: hey what about a construct |
| Sul_Zain_Aserbet06-05-07, 05:00 PM | Sul_Zain_Aserbet: You forgot to apply the LA of the Effigy and Storm Giant which are not LA 0 but rather LA - (unplayable). And the Incarnate Construct template is LA -2 minimum LA 0. You neednt worry yourself about the LA's of those creatures as the PC isnt playable untill its an incarnate construct. That is why this build, while within the rules, requires back story. Its a formula that winds up getting you a playable huge PC. Essentially your telling your DM that your playing a "Level-drained storm giant effigy incarnate construct". That title, taken as a whole, is literally ECL 1. I'm completely aware of the ridiculousness and Pun-Punness of it all. This "race" is pretty fantastic, but honestly, its not much different from PCs that choose a ridiculous combination of obscure PrCs and base classes to achieve some kind of a superbuild. I've played it before, and its fun for what it is, but there are drawbacks, like having a Cha of 1 (permanent) and loosing two feats (no feats for 1 and 3rd HD). It took me a while to conjure up this rules-abusing fellow, but in the end i think its worth it. A giant sized PC who grinds up orcs to make his bread. |

| Sul_Zain_Aserbet06-05-07, 06:13 PM | Slight mistake. For ECL 1 it would have to be leveled drained to 1 HD, as Part-human pointed out, the LA min goes to 0. |
| runestar06-05-07, 10:10 PM | Storm giant should have an ECL of 28 as per the epic leadership tables in the SRD, IIRC. Not sure about effigy though. |
