So I was thinking maybe making a campaign out of just insect races. Wasps (Waspoids) Roaches (Think MIB) Praying Mantis (Thri-Kreen) Beetles (Diospid) Aphids Ants Dragonflies Butterflies/Moths Flies Locusts Dromites Wasps, Ants, and Thri-Kreen are most feared. Roaches are still hard to kill. Flies are annoying, and are the "Tricksters" of the world. Aphids and Locusts would be the "Tree Hugging Hippies" since they live off the land. Butterflies and Moths closely tied to Dwarves in other worlds. They are grumpy, ill spirited, and junk. Dragonflies are born for speed, they can't ever touch the ground after they're fully adult (still however they still lay their eggs in water) and are the most agile and fastest fliers. However with the onset of 4.0, and with 3.5 coming obsolete I don't know if I should go on with it. |
| Zousha_Omenohu08-17-07, 12:34 AM | Obsolete my eye! You've still got 3.5 books, right? That means you can still use them! Anyways, maybe you could give a little explanation as to the ability modifications (What is it about their physiology, culture, etc that makes them faster and more charismatic, while less intelligent and wise?) |

Ya I still have 3.5 books. Just that if I post it, many the people online will already be on 4.0 bandwagon. |
| Manyfist08-18-07, 12:35 AM | Here's the Fluff. Waspoids "Parasites all of them!" - Larval Host before the hatching Waspoids are Humanoid Wasps, which live in giant Hive Cities inside the ground. They have tunnels that reach almost anywhere often showing up in places no one would of suspected. They use magic and slave labor to dig all these holes. A Waspoids life cycle is bizarre to non insect races. The female Waspoid's stinger doubles as an ovipositor implanting eggs in to a small/medium/large humanoid or any living creature with similar biology now referred to as a Host. Nobles solely reserve the right of Large Larval Hosts, for it provides the most food for the larvae. The host is almost always paralyzed yet alive, letting the larvae eat the host alive. However traveling females often sneak their eggs inside a Host without paralysis allowing the un expected Host to walk away. Larvae spend 10 years in this state. While in this state, they go over their racial memories (Language, Writting, Social Customs of Mother's Hive, and of surrounding creatures including Sentient beings). While in the City you'll notice only Females occupy it, for Males after mating leave to travel. Females have to Hunt for meat for the larvae, Protect the Hive (military), as well take care of maintenance of the City Hives, and the Queen. Males are quick to pick up on Social cues. All Waspoids however are naive and gullible to other species' biological functions. For instance, they don't understand the concept of sex in the way most Humanoids know it. They often downplay and underestimate their Humanoid neighbors. However their "alien" mind isn't quite capable as a Humanoid mind. All Waspoids are capable Hunters. Females usually only go after humanoid flesh, however Males often hunt animals in order to fit in. However all Waspoids can consume any Humanoid or Animal flesh, just females more than often choose Humanoids since they are close. While Males who try to fit into Humanoid societies would find them selves at odds with such society. When not hunting or on business, a Waspoid can be quite charming. Since they them selves are social creatures they can communicate with other social creatures with great capacity of understanding way of thinking of a Humanoid (too an extent). Males are often the most encountered with in this situation. Racial Traits - +2 Dex +2 Cha -2 Wis -2 Int - Medium Monsterous Humanoid - Base Speed: 20ft - Flight (Good) 30ft - Natural Attacks: Bite (2d6), Sting (1d6 + 1d4 Acid + Poison) - Poison: (DC = 10 + ½ character level + Wis modifier) (1d4 Con, 1d4 Con) LA: +1 |

| Manyfist08-21-07, 08:56 PM | Well since no one is even considering looking at this thread I might as well start with the other Insect races. Drationis (Dragonfly Humanoids) +6 dex, -2 str, -4 con Small Monstrous Humanoid Flight (40') (perfect) Racial Evasion: A Drationi can avoid even magical and unusual attacks with great agility. If she makes a successful Reflex saving throw against an attack that normally deals half damage on a successful save, she instead takes no damage. A helpless Drationi does not gain the benefit of evasion. Base land speed: 0' (can't land) Natural Armor: +1 Favorite Class: Scout LA:+1? Drationi are very fast, they are the fastest of all the races. However they lack any legs. The larvae are aquatic and they begin to metamorphose into an aerial life. Once adult, the only time they ever touch the ground is if they're dead. Although they still have hands they are too weak to provide support of the body. They are very skillful hunters sometimes a pack can take down a lone Waspoid. They are very kind, and very genital. They are sometimes caught by waspoids, which is their only real predator. Waspoids are well known to attack a Drationi Larvae (Nymph) and a newly metamorphosed adult whose wings are drying out, thus making them an easy target. Drationi enjoy to attack fast, and many times. So a key goal to killing one is to slow a Drationi down by damaging the wings or some other way. They are nomads by heart, stopping for nothing. They drink, and eat on the wing, and to talk to one, you must be moving and fast. In fact their language can only be understood when they are moving. They often learn other languages when speaking to other sentients. Usually enough to find out if their is a Hive-City near by, and how to avoid it. |
| Isendir08-22-07, 03:18 PM | Sopunds good but isn't Nymph a monster already??? |
| maskimus08-22-07, 03:49 PM | Intresting. Have you looked at the Abiel in MM2? |
| Manyfist08-22-07, 07:50 PM | Sopunds good but isn't Nymph a monster already??? Ya, a Nymph however is also a larvae Dragonfly. Since I have a Humanoid Dragonfly it would make since.' Edit: Makus: I totally forgot about MMII. |
