| Leaflitter12-09-07, 04:40 PM | is there a race or template that makes your character immortal like Rain from the Immortal Rain manga? |
| Salla12-09-07, 04:50 PM | I have no idea what this Immortal Rain thing is, but Elan and Warforged are naturally immortal (defined as unaging). As a DM, since no D&D character ever dies of old age during play anyway, I would let a character be immortal if he can account for it in his background or if it comes with an interesting plot hook somewhere. |
| TheDarkPrince12-10-07, 01:29 AM | I think it was one of the last Dragon Mags published contained material about making an immortal character. It provided examples, and gave a few feats. I think that the immortal thing itself was a feat, so the balance factor was there, although aging has never really come into play for me. Cheers! :D |
| Finfreeze12-10-07, 07:54 AM | I like the simple "You have no maximum age and are always considered to be of adult age. You take no penalties from aging, nor do you gain any bonuses from aging." Cuts off the obvious exploits of aging while still letting you live to be 6 bazillion. Alternatively, you could make a feat-based knockoff of Timeless Body where you don't die or get spirited away when your time is up. |
| Legdiwena12-10-07, 04:02 PM | There is an epic feat to extend your age categories. |
| Mindolin12-10-07, 05:19 PM | After reading up on Immortal Rain at Wikipedia, it seems that the Hand of Prophecy ability from the Ancient PCs article in Dragon 354 would be perfect, with the prophecy being that he must kill Yuca in each of his reincarnations. I don't know the true nature of Rain's immortality, but if it's just not aging, that should work. If it is that he can not die at all, forget about it, that's a stupid idea. |

| Templario12-12-07, 07:36 PM | There is a Frostburn prestige class that let you be immortal. But it's more a monky PrC |
| Legdiwena12-12-07, 07:41 PM | What's the name of that PrC? |
| Templario12-12-07, 09:22 PM | Cloud Anchorite, pg. 52 |
| 1 ton ghost12-13-07, 12:59 PM | -any undead race of course, but the suggested real playable PC template is Necropolitan (Libris Mortis) -Warforged, any other construct race -thought some outsiders were immortal (age wise) |
| Mindolin12-14-07, 03:47 PM | Most fluff text shows the Elan as an immortal, so far as age is concerned. I read a little more on the manga you're trying to get the character from, so you can originally play as a human, then, as happened in the manga, you are transformed on some level, becoming an Elan, thus unaging. |
| Leaflitter12-15-07, 08:31 AM | cool thanks in a few days im putting out a race of my own to solve this problem. im not saying that all of you didnt help because you did and a lot. i just think i can try to get more of what i want. peace |
| Stockvillain12-15-07, 04:44 PM | The Ancient PCs article in Dragon has an extraordinary quality - which it indicates could be applied to any character - called Endless that makes you stop aging at the young adult stage [25 forever, basically]. You never accrue ability penalties for aging, but you also never gain bonuses for extreme age [lacking a mortal perspective is the reasoning they use in the article]. Until you get yourself stabbed to death [or crushed, or roasted, etc], you effectively live forever. There's also a 9th level spell in that article called "Kissed by the Ages" that lets you apply the Endless [ex] quality to anyone except yourself. Better start dating an archmage, quick! Hope that helps. |
