| FWHGilby07-03-07, 10:17 PM | I'm not big on the light weakness of drow, I don't want to have to spend a feat to remove the weakness. Soooo can anyone suggest any races as per the thread title? Kinda want a race also that woulld be appropriate for shadowcaster and/or lock |
| OrganicAngelAlexiel07-03-07, 10:28 PM | Githzeria, I think. But you are not going to find many with Spell resistance. Fiendish or celestial have week spell resistance (5+level). But drow are about the only one. |
| nighttree07-03-07, 11:19 PM | Sane Derro ??? SP 15. |
| valakas07-04-07, 12:13 AM | Voidmind SR 10+HD Tho I doubt sane DMs will let you use one. LA+1 |
| Majick07-04-07, 12:57 PM | The Tome of Magic splat book has a race called Karsite that are essentially characters that are descended from the bloodline of a super powerful mage or some crazy thing like that but in the end they are basically a race with a +2 LA and spell resistance 10 + HD, plus you get a few nifty mage hunter kinda abilities :D but if you wanna be a mage or cleric, DO NOT take this race, they are mechanically unable to cast divine or arcane spells... ever... |

Also, the fact that they are humans with some add-ons make them even better as they get the bonus feat and extra skill points. NOTE: Although Karsites are unable to cast spells, psionics are open to them. The shadow magic section states that a shadowcaster's mysteries are NOT spells, no matter how similar they are. The Karsite entry only states that they are unable to cast SPELLS. They can still use spell-like abilities & supernatural abilities. If your DM rules they can't cast mysteries, they can still use them once they become spell-like or supernatural. |
| Borris07-04-07, 08:36 PM | Phrenic template +2 LA template from the Expanded Psionics Handbook. You gain Power Resistance (same as Spell Resistance unless your DM uses a variant rule) of 10 + HD. It also gives bonuses to all mental stats, and a nice list of psi-liek abilities. |

Does their aversion to spells apply to UMD? |
| The_Shaman07-05-07, 03:44 AM | Bariaur, Manual of the Planes. +2 str, -2 cha, SR 11+HD, LA+1 |
| JadeSpider964307-05-07, 09:53 AM | Yuan-ti pureblood +2la but also 3 racial hitdice, SR14+level |
| snakeman83007-05-07, 12:21 PM | Does their aversion to spells apply to UMD? They mention not being able to cast spells from scrolls or wands, but I don't know if this includes via UMD. After all, a cleric can use a wand of cure light wounds without making a check. You'd have to discuss this with your DM. |
