Does anyone think it would be an issue to trade the Azurin's Human like bonus feat for an extra point of essentia and a soulmeld?

So basically trade off the "Essentia Pool" and the Bonus feat for an "Improved Pool"(2 instead of 1) and a free shape.

OR what would be a balanced race with the abilities?

I was thinking something like:

Whisperers
"The wind can tell us alot, you'll learn alot if you just take the time to listen."
---Auran Wildforge, Whisperer Totemist

The whisperers are much like their Azurin descendants, always born from a couple of Azurins, Whisperers are gifted with a greater grasp of the power that surrounds them. Fewer in number then the Azurin(there's only a 1 in 5 chance 2 Azurins will produce a Whisperer) they still strongly resemble their Human roots, their eyes glow various shades of Red Green or Yellow as their mood changes and their hair and nails often give off a light glow.
The Incarnum fused to their soul tends to preserve them allowing for a greater understanding and mastery of Incarnum manipulation, the few known Whisperers have been documented as being around 150 years of age when they finally passed on. The strong presences of energy not only preserves the lifespan of the host but the energy lingers in the area causing various effects, in the case of Zasha a Whisperer Necrocarnate the area around where she passed would slowly sap the life energy of all who remained there, eventually bringing about the end of the small village in which she passed, while Strongheart a Whisperer Totemist left behind a feild that did just the opposite, wounds would heal faster then normal and diseases/illnesses had to struggle to survive.
Because of this bond the Whisperer is constantly drawn to further their understanding of the energy, because of this they typically shun most other forms of advancement but this doesn't mean they can't advance in other fields.

WHISPERER RACIAL TRAITS
+2 Constitution, -2 Intelligence: The Incarnum bound to their existence strengthens their pressence but also tends to narrow their minds.
Medium: As Medium Creatures...
Humanoid(Human): Though further seperated from their Human ancestry the blood bonds still exist
Humanoid(Incarnum): Whisperers are humanoids with the incarnum subtype.
Soul Bound: Because of the strong tie to the power of Incarnum Whisperers have their essentia pool enhanced by 2 and quickly master the ability of meldshpaing allowing them 1 extra soulmeld but only if they purse the path(must be from a list they can normally access at first level)
Automatic Languages:Common Bonus Languages: Elven, Sylvan, and Halfling.

<X>Will come later if the race is found to be balanced<X>

Bumping is against the Code of Conduct.

As there already exists a feat that grants a soulmeld, and there already exists a feat that grants 1 point of essentia (2 if you're a meldshaper), you're trading in one feat for two feats? Sounds overpowered.

Hmm seriously? Guess I need to go back over the code....my bad, usually that's the key thing I look for.

Anyway I'm asking on suggestions to balance the proposed race, I thought it would require some penalties I'm just not sure what would be balanced, I was thinking maybe requiring the character to take 3 levels in a Meldshaping class or else take multiclassing penalties from the strain of body and soul...(it just doesn't sound right but that's kinda the feel I wanted for the race.

Also the feat that directly grants essentia is a level 6 feat and it seems kind of stupid that I'd have to take some random feat and ignore the primary effect just for the 1 point, also I'm not asking for a Universal shape as the feat allows, I'm looking to grant 1 extra point and a shape that MUST be on the base classes list.

So what would you suggest for balancing? I'll play around with it some more today but I can't seem to find anything that makes since, I thought about the "broken" Monk's limitation, or something more along the lines of "taking time to study another field for more then half the time spent studying the natural order(ex. Level 2 Totemist/1 Druid is Ok but taking the next level in druid or any other class is not) causes the essence bound to you to push itself away, this causes your innate connection to your surroundings to diminsh, costing you both the shape chosen at birth(err character creation...) and the 2 points of essentia you normally have access to. This cannot be corrected until you have studied twice as hard in your essentia studies as all other feilds(ex. If your a Lvl 3 Incarnate, Level 2 Cleric your next level MUST be in Incarnate to reclaim your abilities and repair the link).'

I always thought that it was just considered uncouth to bump a thread within 24 hrs of the last post.

spamming through repeated posts, or off-topic content by word or intent to boards or lists (e.g. scrolling, flooding, polling, or by "bumping" a boards post more than once in 48 hours)

If multiclassing is required, how does that penalize a level 1 character using the variant? An extra point of essentia is significant at that level.
