| Aktariel04-01-07, 01:34 AM | Is it possible to play a Hivemind as a PC? As I don't have my books handy ATM, [they're halfway around the world :mad:] I can't actually figure this one out on my own. I was looking at the H.I.V.E. beast, and wondered what it would be like to play a Hivemind. IIRC, a hivemind can be created by a verminlord, or someone with the Dark Speech feat, and they begin life as multiple swarms. The way I figure, you would most likely be playing a sorceror with a large LA and monster HD adjustment. Any thoughts? |
| Thomar_of_Uointer04-01-07, 01:40 AM | I figured one out (not posting, I plan to make money on it someday, sorry!) Just the flat swarm traits for a Fine swarm of Vermin with a little psionic ability (telepathy) and minimal ability score bonuses (-8 Str, +6 Dex, +2 Int, +2 Wis -2 Cha) came out to LA +2. The penalties of being a swarm are actually pretty significant (no equipment is the big one), and 20' land speed means you aren't the perfect Fighter-killer (Fortitude is their good save, and they can run away and chuck alchemists fire at you the whole time). For the purpose of spellcasting, they have to declare a space they occupy for casting, even though the whole swarm provokes AoO. |

| Yayhya04-02-07, 09:55 PM | Yes, some one made a Hivemind Race. i don't remember where i saw it, but it had two z's in the name (i think i have been know to be wrong before) this same person also created an ooze based races so if look for one and you'll find the other. :evillaugh :coolcthul |
