OK, I was feeling bored tonight, so here's a race I came up with. Only thing I'm not sure of is how much of a LA they should have. I figure at least +4 or +5, just going from their ability modifiers.

Kryptonian
Humanoid (Alien)
Medium size
+10 Str, +5 Con
60 foot move speed, 120 foot Fly (Perfect)
Fast Healing: All Kryptonians have Fast Healing equal to 1/2 their Hit Die, rounded up.
Damage Reduction: All Kryptonians have DR equal to 1/2 their Hit Die, rounded down, minimum of 1. This DR is identical to the DR granted by Barbarian class levels.
Powerful Build: All Kryptonians have a Powerful Build. They are treated as one size category larger than they are, whenever being larger would provide a bonus.
Searing Rays (Su): At will, a Kryptonian may fire one Scorching Ray, Maximized and Empowered, from his eyes, caster level equaling his total Hit Die.
X-Ray Vision (Ex): A Kryptonian may see through any material less dense than lead, regardless of thickness. Lead, and metals denser than lead block this vision.
Kryptonite Bane: Kryptonians are especially vulnerable to the fields of Kryptonite. Whenever a Kryptonian is within an Anti-Magic Field being created from a piece of Kryptonite, he looses access to all of his racial abilities (including his DR and Regeneration), takes 1d6 damage for every round he is within the area of effect, is sickened for as long as he remains in the area, looses his fly speed, his movement speed is reduced to 20 feet, and looses 10 points off of his Strength score and 5 off his Constitution.

+7 or +8 LA, definitely. Here's my logic:
1. Huge ability score bonuses with no drawbacks.
2. 60 ft. speed and 120 ft. fly practically ensures that the Kryptonite Bane ability will be mostly ineffective.
3. An at-will SLA that can consistently deal 108 damage per round. This isn't by far the highest damage that anyone can deal, but at a range as a standard action, 108 damage is not too bad either.
4. X-Ray vision seems a little overkill with everything else.
5. Free DR and regeneration

Also, how common is Kryptonite? If every other person in your game world had it, then the LA might go down +1 or +2.

Kryptonite is a naturally occuring material, but no, their move speed would not allow them to avoid it, because when exposed to it, they're sickened, and start taking damage. That means that they would have a hard time moving away. Anyway, here's the link to Kryptonite.

Sickened
The character takes a -2 penalty on all attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks.

As you can see, the sickened condition doesn't hinder movement. Also, if the material is rare as you state in your other thread and only generates a 5 ft. radius AMF for every 1/4 lb., then it would take a lot to make a Kryptonian take damage for more than 1 round.

...OK, also added that they loose their fly speed and their move speed is halved when it's in effect.

I'll have to agree with the other poster on this one +5 is definetly too low for your race. And yes before I rant, i'll say that I like it.

But...
(opens rant):
But on a side note, that's not a kryptonian. Even is we follow post Crisis on Infinite earth and recently, infinite crisis, Kryptonians are much more powerful then that.

Superman can run almost as fast as the flash, he can easily breach the sound barrier when in flight. Freeze huge chunks of material, melt that strongest of metals with his Eye beams. Superman has survived nuclear weapons and who knows what else. His "flashy" super-powers are capable a massive destructions. I mean come on the guy cand deflect hurricanes and tsunamis with the wind from his flying!

Then there's his raw physical might. Superman can lift a Boeing 747 plane and carry it to the far ends of the earth. He's gotten into fist fights with war gods and survived (Darkseid and Hades or Ares, can't remember wich), Showers of bullets simply bounce of him like rain, you name it. Superman is engine of pure destruction and the only thing that stops him from destroying huge swaps of the landscape is that he's one of the good guys...

Clearly, superman is'nt something with LA even +8 and class levels. He's a race with racial Hit dice, and extraodinary abilities that can be both supercharged and grow creater as he ages.

If you ask me, superman is something like Male Kryptonian fighter10, ECL 25-27 Easy...

Makes you wonder what batman is since he's a regular human and he still manages to kick the crap out of superman...

I like the idea, but it has to have Vulnerability to Magic.

It's hard to say what a Kryptonian's strength should be. Superman's power has fluctuated so much over the years that I'm not sure what his "real" strength is.

What are the strongest things in D&D? Superman should be up there with them, I suppose.

Superman should not have regeneration, since he has been wounded by a variety of things. You should however give him fast healing instead.

As for his levels in fighter. He has none. He is a Commoner. He may have levels in expert, but His ranks are in knowledge (local, goegraphy,) profession farmer and reporter, Sense motive, and diplomacy. He may Have a level or 2 in warrior. Superman never had any skill as a fighter. He relies purely on his powers. That is why Batman Is so much better that him. Batman has actual skill.

I gave him regeneration because, even though he can be hurt, yes, those hurts never stay long, unless they happen near Kryptonite.

As for the strength modifier, I believe Kryptonians, as I have them now, are on par with Ogres, which I believe have the highest physical strength of any playable race. And DwarfPcFan, I am going by the old cartoon of Superman, not any of the newer ones. The one where, yes, he could fly, deflect bullets (DR), and so forth, he was not as powerful as he is in the newer ones. The Superman I'm thinking of would not be able to take on a god and beat it, though he very well may put up a good fight. But then again, Superman is an Epic level character (I suspect he has at least 20 levels of Paladin), and this is for pre-epic characters (supposedly).

Why would he have levels of Paladin? Just because he is lawful good doesn't automatically make him a paladin.

If you are going by the old Fleisher cartoon which are based on the action comic superman then he doesn't fly (at least not at first) he can just jump really high and far.

Why not him if he is in the presence of Kryptonite then have him suffer temporary Con damage and act as though he is disabled, but not having the his hp be 0, and also exhausted.

You also may want to reword powerful build because if this character is shrunk than they can still wield weapons for large creatures.

I agree with vardock about giving this race fast healing instead of Regeneration, I doubt superman can reattach limbs. I also agree that he would have a level of commoner or expert (I lean more towards expert for his farm life and as a reporter.) Hmmm...why not both.

I'm saying this as someone who has been reading Batman and superman comics for years, both of wich Ilike

And First, yes Batman is better in everyway then superman (or most DC comics superhero), and he will always be my favorite superhero.

But you're really not giving superman the credit he deserves, the comics have proven him a capable fighter even in situations where his powers were diminished or robbed he was able to hold his own in a fight. As well, he's depicted as a pretty good reporter actually (meaning actual skills) and he's not as dumb as usual satire shows (he just suffers from the everything sucks compared to Batman syndrome)

So yes , as so one who reads the comics, It's my belief that he's a fighter8-10 Kryptonian with lots of racial hitdice and epic level abilities.

wich is why Batman's better then him, he's an actual epic character (probably a mix of fighter/rogue/monk/vigilante/something else/something else)

You can fix this race very easily and make it almost unplayable by adding one fact from the comics: Vulnerability to magic. That fast healing should not be able to heal any magic damage, as well as a dr #/magic anything(+1, good, evil, magical materials(whether enhanced or not) ect.) Superman would not last long in a D&D world, I wouldn't think.

I can't believe I'm going to be sucked into a debate on this ... but I cheerfully disagree. :P

Superman has studied a wide variety of martial arts in his travels on Earth as a young man and throughout the cosmos as a superhero. True, he tends to get more out of the philosophy of those studies than actual combat experience, because of course Superman has a lack of qualified sparring partners. Nevertheless, he has spent time training with Wonder Woman, the Martian Manhunter, the New Gods, and of course with Batman himself.

And Superman is, by definition, not a Commoner. Yes, he was raised as a farmer and if he didn't have adventures to do he'd probably be a farmer or a reporter or something, but he always does have adventurers to keep him busy and he is an adventurer.

See, now you've got me all italicy. :P

I agree that he would have fast healing instead of regeneration. I've read just about every Superman comicbook there is and I've never seen him regrow anything.

However, I must reiterate my earlier disagreement that Superman would have levels of Commoner. Even as a kid (even in the versions where he isn't Superbaby and Superboy), he was always saving people. He had farming chores, but that doesn't make him a commoner. He spent just as much time (probably a lot more) on adventures than he did milking the cows in twenty seconds.

Well since the OP is making the race based off of the action comic version/ Fleischer cartoons of the 1940s. Saving people from burning buildings and the occasional giant creature(s) he really doesn't gain martial skills that why I lean more towards expert since it has average BAB and a customizable skill list. He used his strength more than anything else.

The thing is he didn't really have any real martial skill during that time. Also his clothing was of special material (could withstand molting metal, but could be sewn  )

In the most excellent Fleischer cartoons, it's true that he didn't do a lot of hand-to-hand combat, but I think that has more to do with the acceptable violence level of American cartoons.

In the comicbooks, he had plenty of people to fight and it required a lot of martial skill. And it's really only gotten harder as it goes along. Now he has to be able to brawl with guys like Mongul, Doomsday, Massacre, Darkseid and so on. And back in the really early days, he wasn't above throwing down with whole groups of mobsters just to show that he could do it, and easily.

Now, I will grant you that he maybe doesn't have the severe expertise of a Fighter. Of the four "warrior" classes, he definitely isn't a Barbarian or a Ranger, and probably comes closest to being a Paladin (especially when Jeph Loeb writes him), except that whatever religion he has (a popular subject of debate) doesn't really affect the story much.

If I had to pick a class for him, I think I would go with Fighter. He should probably have more skills and fewer feats, but I think he would definitely have good hit points and good BAB.
