LA for an awakened Dire Bat? [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-01-07, 10:35 PM In one of my up coming capmaigns i am gonna thhrow some awakended dire bats at them which will take a big bart in the story, any way for dtetermining CR for the after class levels, i need the ECL for them, which i would need to know the LA for a Dire Bat, if it has any or if ECL is required for CR.

Any help on this would be great guys

Don't post again so soon, it's regarding often as 'spam'.

Well then... the Dire Bat has 4 racial Hit Dice and it's unbalanced ability scores and abilities would warrant a +2 Level Adjustment I imagine. I don't think there is a LA set for awakenened creatures. Unawakened, the Dire Bat would have a ECL of 6 or so... but still only a CR of 2.

Just my two copper. I could be wrong.

05-02-07, 03:48 AM A full blown Lycanthropy Werebat is LA +2 or +3. I'd imagine an intelligent dire bat with no Lycanthropy alternate form, DR, WIS +, etc. would be less than LA +3.

05-02-07, 05:00 AM If you are using them as npcs, then there is no need for LA/ECL, which is necessary only if you are using them as PCs.

Dire bats have a base cr of 2, awaken adds 2 animal HD and mental stat boosts, which we can estimate to be worth around +1cr(animal HD improves cr at a 3:1 rate).

They only have a bite attack, and are unable to wield weapons, so it appears like they would not make good fighters. It appears like quite a number of classes may be non-associated for them.
