The LA article on the site does not detail how to replace the levels with Hit die and skills. Anyone know?

You don't. Level adjustment grants no Hit Dice. Because it grants no Hit Dice, it also grants no skill points (and hit points, and BAB, and saves, and bonus feats, and ability increases).

But these are levels that you take. Youre telling me you get NO skill points for two levels? NO hit points the first two levels????

Level adjustments were invented to make you not play monster characters at all.

You're behind on ability increases and feats, too. At any rate, that's the whole point of level adjustments.

Out of curiousity, what did you think that the point was?

Well to take the Aasimar as a example,
At first level you get +2 char, 2 energy resistances, darkvision etc
Than at second level you get +2 Wis, energy resistances go up to 5 etc.
The way I understand it these are gain as if you took a class and these were the class features.
BUT YOU are not getting that at each of these levels you get no Hit points or skills( I'm thinking it was omitted) who would play a character with no hit points??? that is what i'm trying to say. the acticle does not state what they are. The only thing I can think is that you pick a class ontop of these racial levels. Like say you were a fighter/aasimar then that would make sense. SOOO
a 1st level fighter aasimar would get

10 hd
2+int skills / fighter skill list
extra fighter feat
proficincies
AND, 1st level aasimar traits.

That is correct, all characters have to have at least one class level. Nobody plays a level 0 Aasimar, they play a level 1 Aasimar who, due to level adjustment, has an effective character level of 3.

Did you read the link in my first post? That's d20srd.org, a third-party compilation of WotC's System Reference Document (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=d20/article/srd35). It's the PHB, DMG, and MM, minus a few things but with many other added (and d20srd.org has compiled some Open Game Content too).

Hummm so now that I look at it that cant be right either. Because while at 1st level you would be even, at second you're getting more than an average fighter.

Uh, they would play an aasimar fighter 1 who is equal to a human fighter 2, not a human fighter 3. Aasimar LA is only +1.

I think you are getting confused between LA and Racial HD.

LA only raises your ECL, nothing else. So, an Aasimar Fighter 1 would have an ECL of 2. Therefore, you would probably be playing that character when the rest of the party is level 2.

Racial HD works more like actual class levels. They grant feats, BaB, skill points, etc.

Remember: ECL=Class Levels+Racial HD+LA.

You will hit your second level when everybody else hits level 3.

Right. If I was playing a regular aasimar. But according to the online article you can play the aasimar as a +0 race.

Yeah, but their racial abilities are very different. I can't remember the exact splatbook they have that one in.
