| G_Mancer04-11-07, 03:05 PM | What PC race woudl be cool to have the Lolth template. i want to have an NPC paladin of slaughter/blackguard NPC. i'm thinking half-orc or something. i'd rather him just be a type of race that intermingles well with normal pcs. like orcs, but not trolls... ya get it? the template ghives 6 con and str and an aligntment of always CE. and maybe some other stuff. |
| DEMONisbest04-11-07, 03:40 PM | Where is the template from? |
| bobothechimp04-11-07, 04:30 PM | Monster Manual IV |
| Mikayla04-11-07, 04:33 PM | Uh..geez..I dunno..what race would be "cool" for a Paladin of Slaughter with the Lolth-touched template? Um, its a radical thought, but how about ... drow? ;) If you want them to intermingle well with other PCs - how about half-drow? |

| G_Mancer04-11-07, 07:46 PM | well the NPC's mother would have been raped. and her offspring will punish her untill her death at his hands. all because she used to crusade against the usual evil underground races, and lolth is getting revenge. thats ploit line that invlves this NPC. i was leaning towards elf, or gnome. i think i'll end up goign with elf, and the NPC having a gang(followers) of drow. they'll all be black with silver hair, and the elf will be pale white with et black hair. whatcha think? any other suggestions? |
| EternalWizard04-12-07, 08:56 PM | How on earth would Lolth give such powers to anybody but a Drow? (i think it is specifically stated that it is Lolth herself that grants these powers and she can take them back anytime) Especially some pale bastard who would normally be looked down on by the least noble drow? Ok Lolth is a chaotic being, but how chaotic can even a god be? |
| Dead_Weasel04-12-07, 09:46 PM | "Lolth-touched" is an acquired template that can be added to any nongood, nonlawful corporeal living creature. Lolth's children are the drow, but she has absolutely no problems inflicting all kinds of suffering on them. Lolth favors the strong above all others, and if one of her children - albeit tainted by humanity/some other subspecies of elf - proves itself the strongest, or can be used to eliminate the weaker among Lolth's children, Lolth would back him/her in a heartbeat. The very instant that individual works counter to Lolth's interests, or finds itself in opposition to something higher in Lolth's graces (i.e. a cleric of Lolth who has made her sacrifice for the day) he/she can expect to see the benefits of the template evaporate quite quickly - although no mention of it is made in a template, since the benefits are presumably the results of direct divine intervention it can be assumed that Lolth could terminate them at will. Otherwise, Lolth would simply ensure the destruction of her failed creation through other channels. Lolth is known for scheming; who can fathom the mind of a demon, let alone a demon-god? |
| Treymordin04-12-07, 10:03 PM | Yet she favors the drow. |
| EternalWizard04-13-07, 07:40 AM | I don't know wether u 've read any of the novels about Drow (especially the War Of The Spider Queen), but that's the best way to understand how the Drow community and Lolth herself act (since Drow organise every single part of their life according to Lolth's dogma) If u read the novels, u 'll see how much Drow appreciate purity of blood, nobility and above everything being a Drow. That's just Lolth's will |
| The_Shaman04-13-07, 08:08 AM | No, that's drow being drow. Lloth might have other plans, different from that of any - or all - of her priestesses. If she has use for someone, she might "favor" them. The power is hers to give, and no priestess can say anything about it. |
