| erebfaer03-16-07, 03:53 AM | I am looking for a race that has a type other than humanoid, has no penalty to charisma, no lvl adj and if possible has a natural claw attack (I can get a natural attack by other means so its not improtant). Im trying to make a character like Nightmare from Soul Calibur with the Soul Eater PrC from the Book of Vile Darkness. |
| Naderion03-16-07, 07:26 AM | I'm quite sure you won't find any macical beasts, dragons, fey or monstrous humanoids without LA. |
| Seldriss03-16-07, 09:11 AM | You can alsways ask your DM is if can make one up with him. As a guideline, use the Player's handbook races, but turn them into animals, like the anthropomorphic animals of Savage Species, but without the abusive modifiers and LA. Examples : Dwarf > Badger or bear Remove : Crafting bonus, resistance to spells, armor non-encumbrance, combat bonus vs goblinoids Add : Str +2, Natural weapons/claws (1d4) Elf > Large cat (lynx or panther) Remove : immunity to sleep, resistance to enchantment, proficiency with sword/rapier/bows Add : Natural claw attack (1d3), base speed +10 Gnome > Beaver Remove : Resistance to illusions, specialization/illusions, combat bonus vs kob/gob, defensive bonus vs giants, alchemy bonus, cantrips Add : Dex +2, crafting +2 (primitive constructions) Halfling > Ferret or weazel Remove : Luck, resist fear, sling bonus Add : Reflex +2, Hide & MoveSilently +2 Half-Orc > Wolverine Remove : Nothing Add : Rage (1/day), Endurance |
| Borris03-16-07, 10:51 AM | The Killoren from Races of the Wild is a fey race with no level adjutsment. The Neraph, from the Planar Handbook is an outsider with no level adjustment. The Elan, from the Expanded Psionics Handbook is an aberration with no level adjustment. None of them has any natural attack, though. |
| okaynowa03-16-07, 10:59 AM | The half-daelkyr from Magic of Eberron is a no-LA aberration which, if it chooses a crawling gauntlet symbiont, has a claw attack. I cannot recall at the moment if it has a Charisma penalty or not. |
