Looking For A Vampire Template [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-08-07, 08:30 PM I plan to run a D20 Modern Underworld-like campaign in a few days, and most of the players will play vampire characters. However since they are not ancient vampires but rather young ones, I need a new template with weaker abilities and lower LA, preferably +2. The fact that its modern it's irrelevant.
I have a few thoughts but I would like to hear if someone has any suggestion, idea, or knows where to find such a template.

Not quite. It's vampire spawn. Not full vampire.

That said, the half-vampire template won't cause them to die from sunburn...

Couldn't he just houserule that? And maybe to balance that out maybe give them an additional +2 to Str or something?

The Vampire Spawn class is good but not appropiate for a modern campaign imo. After I looked at the half-vampire, i think I will use it, with a few changes.
-The type will change to undead, the players will lose their constitution and their hit dice will be d12. The Undead type has a lot of advantages so it balances the low hit points.
-They will be vurnelable to sunlight (which is not a problem since it will be a noctural campaign) but most other things can't kill them. Damage included as it destroys their body but not their spirit. They will turn into gas, return to their crypt and have to rest for a night or too.

I think that this will be balanced. Furthermore, do you have any suggestions upon the matter or feeding? How many days can a vampire go without feeding, how much blood it needs each time and such?

Chapter 1 in Libris Mortis has a section on undead metabolism that addresses feeding. I'd take a look at that.
