| ADHadh09-10-07, 03:50 PM | Lorwyn Lore (http://wizards.com/default.asp?x=mtgcom/feature/422) Look, no humans! (http://wizards.com/default.asp?x=mtgcom/feature/423) Stats anyone? |
| Yeti994409-17-07, 03:45 PM | Strangely enough all of those races are already in DnD, think about it kithkin are to a certain degree halflings and/or gnomes. Merrow are merfolk (or maybe sea-elves). Treefolk are treants. Giants are giants. Flamekin are Fire elementals (the other elemental are their respective elementals). Faeries are faeries. Boggarts are goblins (and maybe some hobgoblins). elves are you guessed it Orcs!!! Just kidding they are elves Duh!!!! and Changelings might be something new if you haven't ever done anything with Ebberon but if you pick up the Ebberon Campaign Setting they are in their (also in the Races of Ebberon). So BAM I have just stated out all of the races by telling you that they are already there. (Kithkin might be the only one) |
| Skritz_the_Lizardmen09-17-07, 03:56 PM | I wanted to do it...but frankly, i beleive we should wait until more info is available to us. |

So BAM I have just stated out all of the races by telling you that they are already there. (Kithkin might be the only one) I'd disagree on many levels. Kithins look more dwarven than halfling or gnome to me plus they have some kind of Telepatic bond with each other. Lorwyn elves are a bit different from standard elves from appearance to philosophy. I'd give them Con-2 Wis-2 Cha+4 and Sorcerer or Ranger as favored class. I haven't studied fire genasi thoroughly but I think flamekin is something similar but with more fire. All those races have their counterparts in standard D&D MM, and yet they're very different from them. We're talking fairy tales here, not heroic fantasy. |
| Wahooney09-17-07, 04:34 PM | Well, it was stressed in a past Ask Wizards on the mtg site that Kithkin are not just another halfling rehash. Then again, that's what you'd expect them to say. |

| ADHadh09-18-07, 08:02 AM | http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=893509 While it's a good thread, it's not about Lorwyn but general fey. When I said "fairy tales" I was pointing at the style of Lorwyn creatures, not celtic myths. I think I might do Kithkins in a couple of days. |
| Roland_of_the_Eld09-18-07, 06:14 PM | I actually think that the elves in Lorwyn resemble Satyrs more than elves. If there are stats for Satyrs anywhere, and I'm sure there are, then I would use that, or at least base it on that. Other than that, I would say that they are less like CG, and more like LN. |
| Robogast09-20-07, 01:31 AM | From what I've been reading over on the MTG side of the site I'd say they definitely have a bit of an evil slant to them(they *ARE* green/black creatures in Lorwyn). |
| ADHadh09-20-07, 04:28 AM | Kithkin based of this article (http://wizards.com/default.asp?x=mtgcom/daily/db2). Kithkin - Con+2, Wis+2, Str-2 - Small size: +1 to AC, +1 to attack rolls, +4 to Hide, -4 to Grapple, carrying capacity is 3/4 of a medium creature of the same Str score - Base speed 20ft/6m - Thoughtweft: Each kithkin shares an emotional bond with other kithkins. This spell like ability allows kithkin to send a simple emotional message to any number of other kithkins in a 60ft/18m radius. Those messages aren't more complicated than "Greetings", "Danger", "Help" or similar. Thoughtweft provides a +4 on Diplomacy and -4 on Bluff checks when dealing with other kithkins. When a Kithkin performs the Aid Another action to assist another Kithkin, the bonus is increased to +4. - Automatic languages: Common, Kith; Premium languages: Giant, Elven, Elemental, Fey, Boggartian, Mer - Favored class: Fighter - Usual alignment: Lawful Good Comments? Edit: Lorwyn on Gatherer! This (http://ww2.wizards.com/gatherer/CardDetails.aspx?&id=140193) explains Thoughtweft pretty well methinks. |
| Roland_of_the_Eld09-22-07, 03:56 PM | For the most part, I like it. But part of the thoughtweft seems off to me. What if a mass of Kithkin gets slammed with an AoE spell? I don't think that it would make sense for them to dodge that when they are in a clump. |

| Salla09-23-07, 11:58 PM | Good point, but I don't see any solutions right now. Suggestions? Thoughtweave ('weft' sounds stupid to me): When a Kithkin performs the Aid Another action to assist another Kithkin, the bonus is increased to +4. |
| ADHadh09-24-07, 11:06 AM | Thoughtweave ('weft' sounds stupid to me): When a Kithkin performs the Aid Another action to assist another Kithkin, the bonus is increased to +4. Got it, except for the name change (it's like that in the article). There's (http://ww2.wizards.com/books/Wizards/Products/?doc=959587400) a sample chapter of Lorwyn book and it's mostly about elves. What can you make out of it? |
| ADHadh09-27-07, 03:31 PM | An article on elementals in Lorwyn with flamekin at the end. (http://wizards.com/default.asp?x=mtgcom/daily/db3) Flamekin Medium humanoid elemental (fire, earth) - Con +2, Dex -2, Cha -2 - Natural armour +1 - Damage reduction 5/cold - Flaming: Flamekin's unarmed strike deals additional +1d6 fire damage. Single Flamekin is a light source of a 20ft/6m radius. The flame is usually cold and touching it deals no damage. Making the flame hot is an extraordinary ability and counts as a free action. Flaming flamekin suffers a -6 penalty to Hide. - Elemental traits. - Automatic languages: Common, Elemental; premium languages: Elven, Kith, Giant, Fey, Mer, Boggartian - Aligment: usually Neutral Good - Favored class: Ranger - LA? |
