| _Luca_12-04-07, 02:40 PM | Hi guys! You know an affected lycan is a +2 race. Now, if a 5th liv barbarian contract lycanthropy, he won't gain class levels 'til he reach 28000px, right? am i wrong? if i'm, pls tell me how does it works... But if i'm right, what happens if the barbarian reach, for example, 66000px (12th liv = brb 10 + 2) and then he lose the lycanthropy? following the rules, he cannot livUp more than once... All the others px will be lost? he'll lost 2 entire levels? or what?... many tnx for ur replies, and i apologize for any eng mistake... =) |

So, really, depends on what type of lycanthrope for how long before another level is possible to be gained. Of course one could always look through the savage progression archive ( http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/arch/sp ) and then actually let the lycanthrope abilities come from leveling up so the player suddenly doesn't find their stats suddenly static for ages. |
| _Luca_12-08-07, 06:44 AM | well, the MM says "Level adjustment: the same as base creature +2(afflicted) or +3 (natural)", and i think that the base creature is the player's race (i.e. human) and not the animal (i.e. wolf)... But the advancement is cool, and probably i'll use it. ;) Anyway i was ask about what should happen if the player lose lycanthropy... I'll try to explain better the previous example: "X is a barbarian that has just reached 5th level (10'000px). In the next combat he contracts lycanthopy fighting a werewolf, and the next full moon days becomes a werewolf as well (assume werewolf is a +2). a lot of time elapse and in the meanwhile he has earned 56'000px (66'000px in total), so he reach the 12th level (which 10 are as barbarian and 2 as werewolf). immediately after, for some plausible reason (even against his will), he shake off the affliction." My question is: What the hell is happening to his levels? and to his px? Does he lose 2 levels (going back to 45'000px)? Does he goes back to 65'999 px (in other words does he lose 2 levels taking all the pxs he can, since he cannot gain 2 levels together) Does he become a 12th level barbarian? What?... EDIT: I'm sorry, everything is written in the page you linked... tnx you! |

That doesn't make a Gnoll Barbarian 1 is a 2nd level character (1 class level + 1 LA). Gnolls also have 2 racial HD. That means that a Gnoll Barbarian 1 is a 4th level character (2 racial HD + 1 class level + 1 LA). The same sort of thing applies to lycanthropes. |
