Alacard_Medri 08-09-07, 11:38 AM	I am new to D&D and I am joining a pirate campaign in the underdark. I want to make a aquatic elf half-dragon(shadow dragon). This would let me swim, breath under water and have darkand lowlightvision. Im thinking of going the swashbukler route to stick with the theme and, when I qualify, a dragon disciple. I have a few questions though. If I choose the dragon disciple prestige class later does that mean I will get 2 breath attacks? 1 for half-dragon and 1 for d. disciple? Also what would be some good skills and feats for me to take. climb,balance,use rope, bluff, intimidate? Weapon finesse? I want to be really piratey. Any advice would be apprceiated. thanks
Traken 08-09-07, 11:41 AM	Isn't a prereq of Dragon Disciple NOT being half-dragon? Personally, I'd go with Aquatic Elf then onto DD later. This way your DM can't hit you with a big level adjustment.
Alacard_Medri 08-09-07, 11:52 AM	wouldn't I lose all the great inate abilities of the dragon though. or would the dd learn them later on? darkvision, breath weapon etc. I have a figure that looks half dragon half elf and thats the look I was going for. Are their any dragonblood races like the one i want. What would be some good feats or skills for a swashbukler in the underdark. Think raids and drow,duergar, and kuotoan merchant ships across the darklake, or the glimmersea.
Traken 08-09-07, 12:00 PM	I don't have any books with me, but I'm pretty sure that the Dragon Disciple let's a normal person become half-dragon. So you would start off as an Elf, and as you take levels in DD, you would slowly transform into a dragon of your choice, complete with breath weapon, wings, natural AC, claws, etc etc.
Meep326 08-09-07, 12:26 PM	First, the Dragon Discipe requires you to not have a dragon subtype. You can also get a feat called Dragon Breath that you can get earliest 6th level, that lets you get your breath weapon every 1d4 rounds, all day. Mmm... Half-Dragon Fighter that get's a 6d8 AoE every 1d4 rounds.

Any advice would be apprceiated. thanks As other said you can enter the dragon disciple if you are a half dragon. Good feats: dragon breath. Take it at your 6th HD. Otherwise take feats that increase your pirateness. Scarlet Corsair is the PrC if you want to be a pirate.

So then would you recommend Being like a fighter or rouge then taking the prcs scarlet cosair and dd. To get the type character I envision. What is the differance between the duelist(swashbuckler) and the scarlet corsair? Where can I find info on the scarlet corsair?
Manyfist 08-10-07, 01:00 PM	If you have PHBII or Dragon Magic I would suggest either Dragon Shaman or Dragonfire Adept if you like the feeling of a Half Dragon without the LA.
