Monsters from ELH as character races [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-12-07, 05:06 PM Has anyone deduced the actual LAs of the monsters from the ELH? For example, the leShay in the ELH has 50 HD, and in the ELH Errata, it states that the ECL of the leShay is 50. If LA = ECL (50) - HD (50), then that would make the LA of the LeShay +0. However, the LeShay get a powerful gaze attack, multiple spell-like abilities at will (including some 7th-level spells), two +14 magical weapons (a 3,920,335 gp value each) it can just pop out of nowhere, twice as many attacks (full attack with each weapon), DR, elf traits, immunity to poison and disease, SR, and fast healing. Does the leShay compare well to a level 50 Fighter?

EDIT: Nevermind, that's incorrect. I should have looked it up before posting. It certainly appears that their LA is zero, doesn't it? Of course, they do have those fifty hd you have to deal with, which arguably means you're far less powerful than a 50th level character.

Sure, you'd probably get their "Signature Weapons", but +14 is again, kinda weak for 50th level.

Also, having some level 28 spells when you're level 50 is really weaksauce, and probably won't affect gameplay much.

A straight 50 fighter has got to be the stupidest thing I've ever heard of.

Yup, a base attack bonus of +25 at Level 50 is a bit... low. Weapon Finesse would be a good choice, methinks (+34 Dex bonus, if I´m not mistaken).

Actually, a Leshay could possibly make a decent martial adept, thanks to the whole bit about adding 1/2 your HD from other sources to your initiator level.

06-13-07, 12:37 AM I've seen on these boards atleast 2 leShay progressions. Both of them granted the weapons so that they grow in power gradually starting as "normal" pop-out-of-nowhere weapons. Also the ability score increases etc. were gradually growing as was everything else including sla:s. Try to google "leshay progression"!
