| Drascin08-18-07, 10:58 AM | One of my players has taken a liking to Gilgamesh, of FF fame, and was wanting to shape his next fighter like him. Problem is, Gilgamesh has a bit too many arms for a normal human. So I was wondering... is there any race, other than the Thri-keen, that sports multiple upper limbs? Or even better, can extra limbs be gained via template? Thanks to anyone who responds. You will certainly help me a whole lot :) |
| unusualsuspect08-18-07, 11:02 AM | Thri-kreen have extra arms. There's also a race in the Underdark supplement that has extra arms. Both have sorta-insectile flavor associated with them. In Eberron, there's also a (IIRC) ECL 2 monster, who might be Daegrim, which has 4 arms. In the DMG II, there's a Extra Limbs template that has an LA of 2, no stat changes, and grants Multiweapon Fighting as a bonus feat. |
| ragoftag08-18-07, 04:36 PM | I have a 'worker' race with four arms. They use their 'coordination' just to keep the extra limbs from getting in each other's way. A game feat only allows them to have that first 'dominant' limb, and they get multiweapon fighting as a possible feat. In campaign, they are fairly passive, sub-norm Intelligence, but fairly numerous. They do get an automatic assist from their other set of hands, but I'm still working on just how, etc. |
| samuraibobx08-18-07, 04:49 PM | Actually, I have a similar question. Is there any race without a LA or racial hit dice that has multiple arms? I'm asking because my DM and I don't really get the whole LA buyoff deal |
| Drascin08-19-07, 11:10 AM | Thanks, suspect, that Extra Limbs is exactly what I needed. I owe you one :) |
| nighttree08-19-07, 11:22 AM | "Obah Blessed template" gives you extra arms (two or four), nice stat bonuses, multi-weapon fighting (as bonus feat) and a bonus to grapple....all for the low price of +3 LA :D |
| Prime3208-19-07, 05:33 PM | Gah, nighttree got there first! If you only take two extra arms it's LA+2, though, better than Abberant Limbs. (Why not take both and get a thri-keen with ten arms? :D ) EDIT: Incidentally, how many attacks could an 11th-level obah-blessed thri-keen monk with abberant limbs make per round? |
| Sarig the Genie08-19-07, 06:06 PM | In which book is Obah Blessed, and Aberrant Limbs? I haven't played a character with more than 2 arms, but it would be rather fun to do so ;) edit: a friend found them, obah blessed would be in dungeon 136, and aberrant limbs in the DMG 2, for anyone else who might be interested. |
| Kattam08-19-07, 09:53 PM | Hmm... a four-armed half-ogre... :plotting: |
| AtsuiShoto08-19-07, 10:08 PM | Ooph, I know what you're thinking, but that +4 LA is painful! |
| zook1shoe66608-20-07, 06:58 PM | In the DMG II, there's a Extra Limbs template that has an LA of 2, no stat changes, and grants Multiweapon Fighting as a bonus feat. i must be blind.... what page was that on? EDIT: Found it... but it is not a template.... just a NPC variant for the DM. |
