my fairy love problem [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-19-07, 07:13 PM my dm has a beef with my fey but i love my little buddies and the only one he has is pixie he wont allow because of +4 la invisibility and various other complaints i started to just to tune out any way if any1 has some good homebrewed fey goodness plz post thnks

06-19-07, 08:15 PM If you can get your hands on the Fiend Folio, there's the Half-Fey template and the Feytouched. Of course, you're not really a fairy then, you're a regular race with giant wings and +4 Cha.

Other than that, good luck playing one.

06-19-07, 09:04 PM A little more info would be nice. Grig is still a spite and makes a good spell caster or bard if you like that and you can tell him you will not use fiddle. Or does he not want you to have a LA. What level are you starting at?

06-19-07, 09:44 PM If you're going to tune out your DM when he's explaining why he won't allow something, then you kind of deserve not to play it. Go back and actually listen to why he won't allow it and see what else you BOTH can come up with. If he's not willing to help you find something, or work with you on creating something entirely new, then you should re-evaluate him as a DM. But that doesn't remove your responsibilities as a player.

06-19-07, 10:04 PM as 4 the tuning out thing i just said that to sum it up but as far as specifics were starting at lv 3 so +2 or under and he didnt like flight/invisibility/and having unbalancing str and end but im pretty good at staying out of trouble so that shouldnt be too big of a problem but over all im personnaly just looking for a good fey race with good spellcasting ability that will make me and him happy once again thnks again for the help.

06-19-07, 10:42 PM Well in Races of the Wild, there is a +0 LA fey race. I forgot what it's called, but it's not really a fairy.

Otherwise, I'll look around for some custom ones with +2 or lower level adjustment for you.

You could still be it. See if he will let you run a monster class. It's in the Savage species.

Uldra -Frostburn
Spriggan -Fiend Folio
Shadar-Kai -Fiend Folio
Satyr -Monster Manual
Pixie -Monster Manual
Grig -Monster Manual
Killoren -Races of the Wild
FeyTouched -Fiend Folio
Domovoi -Frostburn

The Half-fey template can be modified to use any fey creature as a parent. I have used it to play a Half-Sirine, Half-Pixie, and my favorite Half-Spirit of the Land.
There are other's but I can't think of them now.

06-20-07, 10:44 AM It might not be what you're looking for at all, but the various gnome subraces all seem very fey-like. Whisper gnomes are a powerful LA+0 race, that seems to suit the general flavor well.

Although if you want to specifically be fey, then this probaby isn't a good solution for you. ;)

06-22-07, 11:32 AM In the MMIII is the Petal. It is essentially the fairy and is fairier than the pixie. Although it is listed as 1HD and LA+2 it is a statistically weak +2 and is listed as a cohort race. It should, however, provide no power objections from your DM. If you are willing to be a bit weaker in order to just be actual fey, then this is your ticket. Don't forget that the 1 racial hit die would be replaced with your first class level, just like with pixie.

Now, having said that...:devil: It is a tiny race with a little DR, a big boost to Int, a bigger one to Cha and a Con bonus. It has a fly speed and a relatively useless SLA (sleep song). This spells for a very crunchy spontaneous caster. You could blast with warmage or charm with beguiler with your mental bonuses. Its high dex allows for great ranged touch spells, and mobile spell casting works well with a 60 fly. Go with warlock to increase your DR (cold iron stacks with cold iron) and have a ball.

I was under the assumption English might not have been raichi's native language, although if it is. I fully agree with you. It is rather depressing how many people who are taught the language from birth can butcher it so horribly.

A little off topic though. ;)

@penchant: Yes, the petal is a rather interesting fey. I always found them to be more pixie-like than the MMI interpretation.
