Ok, so I'm making a new character, and I want to play a minotaur, which has a level adjustment of +2. amd it says in the monster maual that it begins the game with 6 levels of monstrous humanoid??? I don't understand how to make a new character when it already has six levels??? Could someone explain how this works?

There is two ways to do this.

The first requires you to have the Savage Species book and use the Minotaur Monster Class progression.

The second is to be playing in a highly level game to start. 9th level or higher to be more to the point. The Effective character level of a Minotaur is his Level Adjustment+Racial HD/Levels+Class levels.

So a First level Minotaur Barbarian would be effectivally a 9th level character. Barbarian 1 + LA 2 + Monstrous Humanoid 6.

Typically it is not worth playing a character like this as they tend to be underpowered when compared to others of their level.

Other options would be Human or Half-Giant with a Minotaur bloodline. Half-Ogres are also a good option for highly physical characters.

A minotaur with one level in barbarian is effectively level 9. Does that make sense?
