| ZeronHitaro03-07-07, 04:40 PM | Don't have any fluff written yet, just working on adjusting the crunch first. Can someone with better use of the Feature Points system evaluate what I have so far please? Size: Medium Type: Native Outsider (so practially a normal denisine of the material plane for all intents and purposes except one listed later) Base Speed: 40 feet +2 Dex, -2 Wis +2 Reflex (can be lowered to +1 if +2 adds too many FP) Darkvision 60 feet Naturally Psionic: 2 PP -2 on all checks involving book based temptation (To elaborate, if there's a brand new library built the character will have a very strong compulsion to drop everything and go check it out. Or if the character is evil they'd have the same type of compulsion to steal very rare books) +2 on Appraise checks involving books or texts Can never be Barbarians Can shift between their home plane and the material plane with 2 minutes of concentration and expending 2 PP at specific locations (Their race originally contacted the residents of the material plane and request certain gates be built to allow their worlds to connect.) If they die, their soul and body is sent back to their home plane. In their wake they leave behind a small aqua crystal. They cannot return to the material plane for 1 full year unless a Ressurection or True Resurrection spell is cast using the crystal as an additional focus. Reincarnation does not work on this race. Favored Class: Psion/Erudite (haven't decided yet) Thank you in advance. ^_^ |

Looks flavorful or campaign-specific. A +2 racial bonus to "books" is easily covered by specific, well-defined skills that I can't help but think you didn't bother to look up. The plane shift also looks campaign-specific. No point in having it as a racial trait, you're probably better off statting up a magic item or magic location (DMG II) that allows a character of the race to spend pp to plane shift. The last bit is a cut into the Native subtype, you're probably better off making them Outsiders and then adding a few modifications to their traits. They still get the Outsider proficiencies, right? Overall, probably LA +0. |

They have no clue about their own history or where they even came from. Most (if not all) members of their race are obsessed with finding out their origin. Fortunetly for them this information is more than likely written down in a text... Unfortunetly the entirety of the Plane is filled with vast libraries of all sorts. This race spends a great deal of it's years reading over any and all books they can get their hands on. Hence when it comes to books they have a minor obsession. A better explanation would be comparing it to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory's "Golden Ticket". The next book might just be the one they're looking for. Also as for the "identification" and what not I think you're right. Saying +2 to Appraise when it involves a book would probably be a better route to go. |
