So I'm sitting here on my couch, being bored because I can't go anywhere thanks to my messed up leg, when the thought hits me, why don't I draw up some DnD characters?

Well I'm all set to do so, and have this crazy idea for a Spirit Shaman when I run into a problem...

I'd like to experiment with a character who is an anthropomorphic Brown Bear, perhaps even get this character into a future game with my friends, but we all play 3.5 and the only stats for it are in Savage Species, which is 3.0.

So my question to the many people here who know a lot more about rules and stuff than I do...how do I go about making this race?

What I'd like to know is:
What would the LA be?
What would the ability score adjustments be?
What Racial bonuses would there be?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Awakened animals are apparently playable, following the lycanthrope template's treatement of animal Hit Dice.

I've also put together some 20-level Hit Die progressions, very useful for nonspecific nonhumans.
