Medium: As Medium creatures, Delylorans have no special bonuses or penalties dou to their size. Delylorans base land speed is 40 feet. Delyloans start the game with Multiweapon Fighting as a racial feat. Being that the delylorans were designed for survival, one of the following may be chosen as a racail feat; Deep Denizen, Desert Dweller, Grass Trekker, Peak Hopper, Swamp Stalker, Treefriend or Winter's Child. Youthfulness: Once a Delyloran reaches maturity, they no longer age physically. Therefore they are not affected by the penalties of aging. This youthfulness also keeps them from gaining bonuses from age also. This ability does not keep them from dying at the end of their lifespan. Delylorans are incapable of channeling the energies required to cast spells. This prevents them from taking any spellcsting classes. Classes such as the Ranger can still be taken, but they will not be able to cast the spells they would normally receive. This also prevents them from using spell-like abilities, but does not prevent them from using supernatural abilities. Delylorans can use most magic itams without problem. Automatic Languages: Common. Bonus languages: Any may be chosen do to their creation for delivering messages. Favored Class: Barbarian Level Adjustment: +2 Delylorans are only female. They are designed to be able to breed with anything, but the child will always be a delyloran child. This is a magical effect, so anything that prevents magic will prevent them from procreating. |
| Mai_ariti06-30-07, 09:42 AM | 40 ft? Fast but not ungodly. . .wolves have 50 ft. Four arms? How about free Multi-Weapon Fighting (MM) or whatever the exact name is. A bonus on Grapple and on Climb, Swim, and similar checks where the use of more arms would help, +4? Alternately, you could give them a very slow climd speed (5-10 ft) which would be interesting. What ability bonuses do you have in mind, I got the impression of +2 Str and Cha. What you have there is no-where near a +3 LA and four arms are useless without at least a few bonus feats. Perhaps you could have different clans within this race that were trained for different things so there would be different feat options. That's a bit of work though. |
| Thomar_of_Uointer06-30-07, 02:26 PM | Soo... They can't take levels in ranger, the traditional multiple weapons class? That "no magic" ability means nothing, a fighter with the ability is exactly as powerful as a fighter without it. It has no impact on determining the LA of the race. It's about as pointless as the second edition class restrictions. |

I still don't know what to do about the speed. 40' fott is a good speed but i want something that relates to them being messengers. They had to go by foot. Please comment and critique. Thanks much. |
| Captain_Kobold07-01-07, 12:33 AM | Can you define the inability to cast spells further? Could a Delyloran use spell like abilities such as a warlock's invocations, or supernatural abilities such as a Paladin's lay on hands? Or are the Delylorans unable to utilise magic in any form? A speed of 40ft seems reasonable, but give them the endurance feat instead of the terrain-based one. (Where did those come from?) Endurance represents the way that as well as being faster than a human, they can keep going for much longer and so cross distances faster. Since they sound like a typical Delyloran would be superior to a typical human, you might want to consider giving them a couple of racial hit dice instead of just LA. Two Humanoid hit dice and only a +1 LA could be a start. Maybe have either endurance or multiweapon fighting and no LA, just the hit dice? |
| DawnSliver07-01-07, 03:17 AM | Updated and tried to explain better. I set their speed at 40'. The terrain based feats came from the Savage Species book. They are superior to human only in the ways mentioned, they don't have any more health than a human. |
| DawnSliver07-15-07, 12:58 AM | I was wondering how much an additional move action would add to the LA. Also, any additional comments or critiques. |
