Dwarves, beyond all their other goodies, get Fighter as their favored class. Flavor-wise, this fits, as it says that most dwarves have martial skill and proficiency with heavy armor. Mechanically, it means that any dwarf can splash a level or two of Fighter into their build, something every race would enjoy having. So... Favored Class: Knight. This class is similar to a Fighter, but has additional fun flavory things, like being Lawful, fairly immovable, and a cornerstone of defense. The Knight doesn't get a good Fort save...but dwarves don't really need it, between +2 Con and racial bonuses. And finally, dwarves no longer have complete access to the sweet 2-level Fighter dip (unless a Knight/Fighter). Halflings are deceptively excellent - even without their luck bonus to all saving throws, they can more than make up for their Small stature with other racial bonuses. To top it all off, they get Rogue as their favored class. This fits their theme of being opportunistic and sneaky, but in-game means that halflings can always start the game as a Rogue (to get unparalleled skill points, trapfinding, and SA) and then do whatever afterwards. Favored Class: Swashbuckler Hear me out, here. This class is almost designed with halflings in mind. It requires a good Dex, gives you Weapon Finesse at 1st level, and has this 'daring & lucky' flavor that fits perfectly with halflings. Sure, it's very tempting to do a 3-level dip into this class for Insightful Strike, but that still feels more balanced to me than a 1st-level dip into Rogue. These two changes might make the Human (and Half-Elf) more attractive, as they can multiclass Fighter and Rogue with any other class without XP concerns. |

Halfling, with their +2 Dex and Small size, they already get a +2 to AC, halflings gain a +1 with thrown weapons and slings, which covers some of the monk's weapons ( dagger, javelin, sai, shuriken, and sling). As for the halfling's speed of 20ft, the monk's speed bonus takes care of that by level 3. The only real disadventage is the halfling's small size, it means they deal less damage with weapons and unarmed strike, but they do gain a +1 attack bonus because of their small size. |

| AMGriffin03-03-07, 03:37 PM | Dwarves and ESPECIALLY halflings are not underpowered. Kbye! :D |
