All right, i had a player who wanted to play a drow but couldn't have the level Adj, level 1 characters... He asked the DM if he could do a variant of the Elf with Darkvision 90' and light sensitivity, and different weapons proficiencies, i think he was allowed Rapier, Shortsword, and Hand Crossbows... so he could play a Half-Drow Half High Elf, black skin and junk, well the DM allowed it but wanted me to post it and see if people thought it was a good idea...

Seem like balanced and easy thing to do???

well, in the new drow of the underdark book you can start at first level as a drow.

WizO_Cat: Non-OGL material removed.

yeah, it is, but it's that way as part of a progression to get to full-drow abilities.

so your game's half-drow/half-elf would have all base elven stats, but darkvision 90, drow weapon proficiencies, and light sensitivity?

doesn't sound badly done. it should work.
