| Alexeduardo07-06-07, 03:13 PM | (in my series of threads you can help with your own images and ideas) Fairly simple concept. constructs created by wizards thatreally dislike hobgoblins, their whole existence centers around the death of that pest. What can you give me to make this idea better? |
| RobbyPants07-06-07, 03:34 PM | What ideas do you already have? Are they supposed to be medium sized? Something like a warforged? Something larger, perhaps? Hobgoblins are very militant and organized, so it would be important to work around this. Merely sending constructs after them won't be effective unless the constructs are very powerful. Perhaps, they rely on some type of diception. Maybe the constructs can use illusion spells to sneak past the scouts. Fear and various enchantment spells can be useful for breaking up groups of hobgoblins. Those are just a few ideas that I had. |
| Alexeduardo07-06-07, 03:40 PM | they are about the same size of a hobgoblin (medium, i think) they are more like mechanic robots fueled by magic. they are sentient like the warforged. |
| penchant07-06-07, 03:48 PM | Hobgoblins typically command and bully goblins. Why not have a "Goblin Toady" assassin construct. Its small size, has disguise self as an innate ability but can only do goblins and infiltrates hobgoblin military ranks. It gets in snivelling and grovelling and is totally under the radar of even the most perceptive hobbo.... because its only a goblin. Then when the time is right and you have enough in a hobbo camp, they start silently killing from the top ofthe ranks on down. When they are discovered, they either flee or fight until destroyed. A death throe ability would be nice, but it might be too much. Since when the killing is going on they look like sharp bladed constucts the hobbos still won't think to suspect goblins. I don't know if you want a PC race or just a mindless construct but if you give your needs we could stat out something reasonable. |
| Alexeduardo07-06-07, 03:53 PM | well I'll stick with the medium robot fueled by magic conept. I'll think the special abilty for this race will be that they will be able of putting something in their shoulder and then launching it from their hands. That and darkvision |
| Malchius07-06-07, 04:02 PM | how about an automatic Bane-Goblinoid on their natural weapons and give them a sword style natural weapon(like a nimblewright). Or even better Baneblind-Goblinoid for pure assassination!:D |
| Draginja07-06-07, 08:24 PM | The right arm of the construct has a sword on a chain inside. The hand splits in half, and the chain flies out up to 50 ft, dealing 2d8 damage to any creature it hits, with a 50% chance to puncture and continue on. Retracting the chain takes two full rounds, plus one additional round for each impaled creature. OR A cannon. You shoot objects at people, with the damage decided by the size of the launched object. Take them or leave them, but they seemed really cool when I thought of them. |
| Alexeduardo07-06-07, 08:27 PM | actually I wanna make them sorta like a commando. Sorta like a commando inbred proficency with one exotic/martial weapon Resistance to harsh conditions like rain or swampyliketerrain Special ability (put something in their shoulder and fire it through their wrist) may be usable once a day per every three levels Ability to take on many shots while remaining capable of running to cover Not a lot of social skills or wits |
| ArochanoX07-07-07, 01:56 PM | My idea: Hobgoblin Hunter Small Living Construct Speed 40 ft Str +2, Dex +2, Con +2, Int +2, Wis +2, Cha -4 Special Attacks: Grafted self-loading heavy crossbow Special Qualities: +4 bonus on jump, balance, climb and swim checks Darkvision 90 ft, low-light vision +4 bonus on move silently, listen and spot checks Telepathy 50ft (only with other hobgoblin hunters) Powerful Build Favored Class: Ranger LA +2 ish Grafted self-loading heavy crossbow The hobgoblin hunter has proficiency with the weapon that is mounted on their shoulder, arm or back. The weapon can be fired once a round as a free action with a -5 penalty to hit, it reloads itself during the round and can be fired again the next round. Otherwise it functions as normal heavy repeating crossbow. A new case of bolts must be attached to the weapon every 5 shots. The weapon can also be used as a standard action, which removes the -5 penalty normally associated with it. The weapon is still automatically reloaded for the next round. Skill bonuses Hobgoblin hunters are very adept at moving in very difficult terrain and they have very keen senses. |
