New Race: Untouchable [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-23-07, 11:04 PM This week, I'm starting a new session of DnD. I've already got my character laid out, but one of the other PCs has requested a special new race and I have concerns about it. I'm posting this with my DM's permission (because he's working on a DM reference guide of his own and I'm not doing anything). I'm not sure if it's two powerful and requires a LA or if it's two weak and will hurt the PC too much and hurt the party.

Half-demon, half-angel
acid resistance 5, electricity resistance 5
vulnerability to fire, cold
30 ft. avg flight (20 ft. medium or heavy armor)
Darkvision 60 ft.
-4 Con
Sanity damage x2
Sanity check each night
Concentration check 15+damage dealt to stay in air if hit

We play with sanity and this class will require a sanity check each night to keep from taking sanity damage.

Thank you for any help. This is all of the current information about it. It doesn't have a favored class or anything yet. The thing that's concerning me most is the -4 to Con which may make it so that I'm constantly protecting him (I'm the tank of the party).

So in what ways is this race balanced/unbalanced?

05-24-07, 12:20 AM Sanity damage? I guess that works. As long as your character isn't in the 1d6 of investigators that dies every round.

But whats sanity damage? whats the save and DC? I take it that the -4 con is an example of the 2 bloods at war?

You have any idea of what the characters could look like?

05-24-07, 06:11 PM Without mortal blood in the mix, it's still an extra-planar, so basicially immortal, if it dies, it would likely end up in the outlands and can planeshift back to the prime, that is if you are using the great wheel.

Now explain how a celestial and a fiend would ever breed.

Another thing is how exactly can he RP such an unusual and complex character?

2. Alcohol, lots of alcohol.. or whatever gets them all gizzy
3. put them in the same room and make them watch porn.

05-24-07, 09:26 PM I think the most likely cause of this creature is the the breeding between an astral deva and a particularly cruel and patient Succubi/Inccubi with a potent alignment diguising magic item. If this is the case, you might want to give your race the changelings' minor shape change ability.

Because they are a winged race, they have an unusual body type, and have to wear special/refitted (therefore expensive) armor.
