General_Ridley 12-29-06, 05:12 PM	you can look evil with Hellbred. see the example: glowing inverted pentagram on his forehead and sharp pointy teeth. You could also have a nice rack of ram horns. It's like the Elans, except you have vague memories and an inborn purpose (do something big so you don't go to the Hells), rather than full memories and no inborn purpose.

Blaze_the_Dragon 12-29-06, 05:31 PM	It's in Tyrants of Nine Hells... And no...Spawn is definatly a Hellbred...It SCREAMS Spawn...Which was the charactor I was going after...A rouge/Assassin...Then he died...Became a Rouge/Assassin/Paladian.
The Crimson Dawn 12-29-06, 06:06 PM	Actually there is nothing stopping you from making a hellbred character based off of a previous character and give him all the same levels and go from there if you want to. For example you had a NE human swashbuckler who dies and repents. He becomes a hellspawn but in your case he comes back with his class levels and a vague idea who he is though he may not remember everything. In this case he could still travell with his former companions and still be useful but they may not even know it is the same guy.

This would be a perfect way to use those character reformation rules from the PHB2. Not the retraining but the ones that can change your race. On a side note, i cant help but chuckle whenever i read the name of this race. I think to myself "that would be good with some deviled ham on it" ;)

Lol I must have been thinking of the Abyssbred. And Angelbred dont look very demonic though they can be confused with angelcake.

mikeg710 03-07-07, 01:39 PM	I also immediately associated the hellbred race in FCII: Tyrants of the Nine Hells with the Spawn and Hellboy characters. Personally, I think it is a great concept. However, after a lot more consideration and reading, hellbred - as presented - seems better suited to be a template rather than a unique race. Hellbred is missing a lot of the standard information for a race (e.g. Size and Speed), so one has to assume (always a bad thing) after reading the example given, hellbred are Medium and have a base speed of 30 feet.

Krusk 03-12-07, 04:49 AM	you could easily play a spawn type character with hellbred. as you level up you start to discover more abilities you have. If you read spawn 1 you notice he has almost no knowledge of his abilities. Meaning level 1. Read spawn 16 or so he now knows a lot more about his abilities by this point, and is challenging dieties for their power. Level 20 into epic.
RavingDork 03-12-07, 11:27 AM	I always thought of Spawn as a Kyton/Chain Devil with a magical suit of armor and cape. With Hellbred character, however, it would be easy to say he was once an Xth-level X before the transformation. Now, after the transformation, he has limited residual memory of his former self and is slowly rebuilding it. Essentially, with every level he gains, he unlocks a little more of himself and grows more powerful. Think of the Jedi of the Old Republic games.
