Evening all.

In fleshing out my character i'm toying with the idea of occasional rituals and/or songs/warchants etc. Has anyone made up/created any form of ogre language - or am i just going too far off the hardcore diving board? ;)

No, but I have some suggestions.

First of all, the ogre language is giant:).

Second, your ogre should be fluent in it, it's not like speaking broken common, the ogre is speaking its native language, so it should be competent at it.

third, prepare a few chants etc. in advance, write up whatever sounds good, and explain it to anyone who can speak giant, the words don't have to mean anything individually.

The majority of giants for DnD are closely related to the giants of Norse mythology. There were three classes of giants, frost, fire, and mountain. So seeing their origins Giant (the language of the giants) would be an old germanic language.

If you have ever seen "The 13th Warrior" how the nords talk in the beginning is how it would kinda sound.

As for the actual lettering and all that jazz, no I do not have a clue, but as Benjamin Franklin would have said if he knew what it was, "Google it."

Giant the language of ogres, in our group (my dad and his brown nosers) it comes off similar to orcish. Less use of K's(klingon orc thing) and much more bass.

I'm going to disagree with that.

Giant is a language whose speakers predominately have human intelligence. Therefore, being with sub-human intelligence (i.e., ogres) shouldn't have proper grammar and syntax.

A human with 6 intelligence would probably speak broken common, and ogre should speak likewise impeded giant.

Off the top of my head, some samples from an ogre language:

urg-iid nb-or sag "he ate the cow" literally "eat-past cow-the he"

fra vaud-or "The king speaks" literally "speak king-the"

Bar! sgab-atch sog-aib uud-sko! "You will all die in great pain" literally "Vocative particle! pain-with die-IMPERATIVE you-all"
