| YamiShinobi04-29-08, 10:46 PM | playtested homebrew races by yami shinobi, i thought i would give an fp breakdown of the nekogami, (yes they are below 19 Feature points and thus L.A. +0 by yaba's calculator. they were built (tailored) especially for rogues. i realized that racial feats such as star elf's otherwordly feat or catfolk pounce do not count in fp calculation. they come off a little strong for elitists. they keep saying ask yaba. good thing i downloaded his system last week. thank you yaba sensei. NEKOGAMI RACIAL TRAITS: • +2 Dexterity, +2 Intelligence, -4 Strength, -2 Constitution: Nekogami are smart and agile but physically weak and frail. • Fey: Nekogami are Fey that resemble humans, almost always resembling female human children aged 7-16 (though most appear 12 or 13, a few may appear 7-12 and others rarely 14 or 15) all nekogami are female • medium size, no bonuses or penalties due to size •Slight Build: The physical stature of a nekogami lets her function in many ways as if she were one size category smaller. Whenever a nekogami is subject to a size modifier or special size modifier for an opposed check (such as Hide), the nekogami is treated as one size smaller if doing so is advantageous to the character. A nekogami is also considered to be one size smaller when "squeezing" through a restrictive space. A nekogami can use weapons designed for a creature one size smaller without penalty. However, the space and reach of a nekogami remain those of a creature of her actual size. The benefits of this racial trait stack with the effects of powers, abilities, and spells that change the subject's size category, this includes armor class and attack rolls. 0FP • Nekogami base land speed is 30 feet. • Darkvision out to 60 feet, a nekogami can see in the dark out to 60 feet • Nekogami are ageless, they do not die of old age and are not affected by ageing effects. They do not have a middle age, old age or venerable age, but adulthood for a Nekogami is 10 years 0FP • Nekogami receive weapon finesse as a bonus feat, even if they do not meet the prerequisites. +2 racial bonus onon listen, and spot checks, and a +4 racial bonus on move silently checks. • Nekogami tend to stray away from law like most fey, they prefer to excersise their curiosity, most are chaotic good, chaotic neutral or neutral evil • Automatic Language: Common, Sylvan, Feline. Bonus Languages: Any (other than secret languages, such as Druidic). See the Speak Language skill. • Favored Class: Rogue. A multiclass nekogami ’s rogue class does not count when determining whether she takes an experience point penalty for multiclassing. • Due to a nekogami’s frailty and lack of strength, they cannot do the following, wear heavy armor, carry a heavy load, wield a 2hand weapons or take the endurance feat chain. nekogami are the daughters of a human mother and the god of cats, many live alone, though some have found others and lived together, nekogami always see each other as sisters (well they are technically half-sisters) most favor the life of a free stealthy individual (such as a rogue or ninja) they eternally resemble human female children, they are famous for thier planning and thier agility, most become rogues or multiclass rogue/wizards, some find joy as arcane tricksters, a few here and thier may be highly likely to become beguilers, they are curious, knowledgable, secretive, agile, graceful, and sometimes easygoing, though they have a racial taste for mishcief, befuddlement, and misleading, they are never lawful good or chaotic evil, though they will be everything else. a few may be chaotic good, but more are chaotic neutral or nutral evil, there are a quite a few exceptions, they are commonly pale, thier haircolors are either black or brown, and thier eyecolors, blue, green or hazel. thier are always slim, petite and underdeveloped. they totally stop aging after the 10 years of incubation, development or whatever. those first 10 years say a lot about them. Racial Feats Blessing of the cat god Prerequisites: Nekogami dexterity 16 Weapon finesse Benefit: you may add your dexterity to damage rolls as well as attack rolls with any weapon which weapon finesse applies to. It also applies to damage rolls with ranged weapons, this replaces strength modifier. Special: without this feat it applies to attack rolls but not damage rolls |

| Lancer_Bloodlust05-13-08, 10:56 PM | If you do not mind my inquiry, why are catfolk so popular? They make such frequent appearances on these boards. |
| YamiShinobi05-13-08, 11:06 PM | If you do not mind my inquiry, why are catfolk so popular? They make such frequent appearances on these boards. nekogami are fey that resemble humans, but have divine feline flavor, Shinneko are a catfolk subrace focused on the style of the assassin, Nightblessed are a human subrace of the night that make good sorcerers everybody who posts seems to make a feline race or two. the shinneko took forever to balance as did nekogami. Nightblessed were based off of gaia online's famous anti archer shadowsprite Nicole Mokonias, though minus the ability to send any projectile (even a spell such as magic missle) back to to the one who fired it dealing Quadruple damage without taking any herself. i had to nerf it like crazy, (omniprojectile reflection would bump ecl by epic proportions) |
| pigknight05-13-08, 11:45 PM | Guys like cat girls (dang furries) for some strange and unknown reason. |
| Rhialto05-14-08, 08:27 AM | • Fey: Nekogami are Fey that resemble humans, almost always resembling female human children aged 7-16 (though most appear 12 or 13, a few may appear 7-12 and others rarely 14 or 15) all nekogami are female 0FP • Small: As Small creatures, nekogami recieve a +1 to armor class, a +1 to attack rolls, +4 on hide checks, -4 on grapple checks, carrying capacity is 3/4 that of a medium character 0FP (end quote) Even in Japan, girls aged 7-16 are not consistently under four feet tall, the upper limit of height for Small creatures. |
| Lancer_Bloodlust05-14-08, 05:04 PM | Thanks guys for the response. Although I think pigknight is probably more accurate... |
| YamiShinobi05-14-08, 05:41 PM | • Fey: Nekogami are Fey that resemble humans, almost always resembling female human children aged 7-16 (though most appear 12 or 13, a few may appear 7-12 and others rarely 14 or 15) all nekogami are female 0FP • Small: As Small creatures, nekogami recieve a +1 to armor class, a +1 to attack rolls, +4 on hide checks, -4 on grapple checks, carrying capacity is 3/4 that of a medium character 0FP (end quote) Even in Japan, girls aged 7-16 are not consistently under four feet tall, the upper limit of height for Small creatures. rather than measuring by inches, i measured by frailty of body and dexterity, people always seem to treat children as a size smaller. the average height of a nekogami is a range of 4ft3-4ft7 maxing at 4ft11 (within small range) they are short and slim enough to be considered small compared to humans, anything shorter than a tall dwarf is small, (Dwarfs Max out at 5ft2) the children of the cat god also act is if they were a size category smaller for the purpose of bonuses of penalties related to size. so what choice but small, they are the upper limit of small size. they have no feline appendages, they do have feline personality traits, such as curiosity, overaffection, finickyness, sneakyness, a love to befuddle and mislead, an addiction to milk, the licking of the back of the hand like a paw, addiction to catnip once exposed, as well a smany other things, such as never staying away from a ball of yarn and always trying to catch mice. if i had room for feature points, i would give them pounce. but i want to stay L.A.+0 |
| bahamut92005-14-08, 06:36 PM | You do realize that there's a Slight Build ability (equivalent to the goliath's Powerful Build, but the other way) that allows you to treat yourself as one size smaller when it benefits you, right? WotC used it in their variant kobolds on the website (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20060420a). |

| AZNsupermarket05-15-08, 11:30 AM | Yea, feature points greatest shortcoming (of which there are many) is that fp fail to account for when all the race's abilities synergizes really well around a certain class. |
