Ooze Template LA? [Archive] - Wizards Community

11-15-07, 03:53 PM So I'm looking to create a deformed changeling that basically has the ooze template added to it. I'm going to write my ideas below and I want to hear everyone's opinion on what the LA should be. I wanted to create a non-evil aligned version of the Thrall of Juiblex from BoVD, but that would mean I'd have to be level 16 before I even became close to the character I wanted to make

-2 to Charisma
+2 to Dex
+4 to Climb, Escape Artist, and Hide
-2 to Disguise: Even though is able to change shape at will, you always remains the same tint of slime. So even though you can make yourself look like a dwarf, and your base color is green, then you look like a green dwarf with green hair.
Cannot wear armor.
Immune to acid.
Speed: 20ft
(Ex) Blindsight 60ft
(Ex) Improved Grab: Because of you sticky body you can grapple others better than average. Same as the improved grapple feat.
(Ex) Corrosive Touch: 3 Times a day can secrete a caustic slime, after which a touch attack can be made to cause 2d6 acid damage. Can also be made with an unarmed melee attack, adding the acid damage to normal damage. (takes a standard action to secrete acid)
(Ex) No Discernable Anatomy: Creature is amorphous and can't be affected by critical hits, sneak attacks, and is immune to poison, paralysis, and stunning. HOWEVER, potions have no affect.
Unlike normal oozes, must eat, sleep, and breathe.

((Next are the three biggies that I would like to keep as part of the template, but may be better as special feats or something))

(Su) Polymorph Self: Can polymorph self at will as the polymorph spell cast by an 8th level caster.
(Sp) Summon Ooze: 3 times a day can summon a patch of slime, gray ooze, ochre jelly, or gelatinous cube. Uses character level as caster level for the summon monster spell.
(I'd be willing to mess with how many times a day it can summon, since in the text for Thrall of Juiblex it doesn't give times per day meaning you can do this at will it seems)
(Sp) Command Slime: Because of the rarity of intelligent ooze, regular ooze find themselves unable to resist intelligent commands of one like them. 3 times a day can command ooze, as a command undead spell cast by a caster equal to your character level.

((Last but not least is something that was in the Juiblex class, that I would like to appear, though I would be willing to part with))
(Sp) Summon Pudding: Once per day can summon a black pudding. Uses character level for the summon monster spell.

A possible feat chain I have in mind to gain at least Polymorph self, if some think that will sky rocket the LA. I was thinking to make a person have to take "Swift Change." Followed by something I created called "Reach." Which allows a creature who can stretch their body to increase their threat range to 10 feet instead of 5. Finally after these two are had a person make take the Polymorph self. I guess technically I want this character to have the ooze and shapechanger subtype.

Basically this character is an amalglamation of both the ooze template and the thrall of juiblex. To me its hovering somewhere around LA+4. Though I would like it to be more around the 2-3 areas, however I also don't have a lot of experience with this either. I'm basically just hoping to make a character who is something akin to Ink from the Batman Beyond cartoon.

Hey this is really neat. This is basically the exact idea I had for the character I was trying to make, an ooze girl. The only problem is I'm trying to make this character as a PC. In my head, I thought the lack of ability to wear armor and inability to benefit from potions was going to be large enough flaws as to limit the amount of LA's required. I was thinking of all the benefits a warforged get and the only real drawbacks is that they can't self heal and healing does half. I think warforged are one of the strongest LA 0 races.
