| beenyboboo60110-27-07, 12:38 AM | what is a good undead race for a 15 level fighter. beside vampire. b/c my pc just met a power lich and he is going to chang me into an undead so any ideas would help alot my stats are str 22 dex 18 int 14 wis 15 cha 11 im 7'5 477 lbs human that uses magical claws like wolverine thanks |
| Bahumut10-27-07, 12:44 AM | biggest. human. ever. beyond that, you may want to look through the libris mortis, it has a ton of undead broken out into monster classes. also has undead feats, tips on playing undead, etc. another fun option is either the bone or corpse creature from the BoVD, basically a skeleton (bone) or zombie (corpse) that retains its intelligence, memory, feats, skills, etc. you will need to convert them to 3.5 though, but that isnt really hard, just change the "half damage from X" to DR 5/"weapons other than X" and a few tweaks beyond that. also, if you dont have a ring of regeneration for that character, you need to be shot :D |
| runestar10-27-07, 12:51 AM | Necropolitan from libris mortis probably, because it is LA+0. |
| beenyboboo60110-27-07, 12:57 AM | he used to be a minator untill a quest from a titian so he has the best of both races |
| beenyboboo60110-27-07, 12:59 AM | i have libris but they dont have just a brute type of undead. |
| INeedNoSalt10-27-07, 01:14 AM | Well, brute types of undead tend to be zombies. |
| beenyboboo60110-27-07, 01:55 AM | but they are slow and dump |
| PhaedrusXY10-27-07, 02:16 AM | Bone or Corpse creature is what you want. From the Book of Vile Darkness, as already mentioned. They're basically intelligent skeletons and zombies. Gravetouched Ghoul isn't bad, either. That's in Libris Mortis. JuJu zombies in the Unapproachable East book are pretty good, also. |
| Fly666monkey10-28-07, 05:14 PM | Y not be a vampire? Vampres are sexy!:mymy: |
| Crebain10-28-07, 05:43 PM | I agree with fly666monkey vampires are sexy. :D |
| Fly666monkey10-28-07, 05:50 PM | I agree with fly666monkey vampires are sexy. :D See? |

| Fly666monkey10-28-07, 06:02 PM | untill they suck you to hard;) Great, i just killed this guy's thread.... wait, i forgot. I excell at that:evillaugh |
| Decinious10-30-07, 12:16 AM | My vote also goes out to Bone/Corpse Creature from BoVD, which are by my calc a +1 template, if the DM tries to up that to +2 go with Gravetouched Ghoul from the libris. After that try to convince said lich to spellstitch you as well. |
| Garonak10-30-07, 04:27 AM | Go Death Knight from MM2, you need to change the DR 15/+1 to DR X/Magic, but other than that it's a go. LA+5, bunch of stat bonuses, aura, fireball-ish thingy once per day, undead followers, Nightmare (or similar) as mount. |
| The_Shaman10-30-07, 02:02 PM | Monsters of Faerun has the Curst - a kind of undead that is next to impossible to kill and gets some okay features... LA +3 though. Also, I remember hearing about a decent fighting template called the Swordwraith... it might have been from Unapproachable East, I'm not sure. |
| Roburius10-30-07, 02:11 PM | Since you're doing this during play you really have to watch the level adjustment. Make sure you and your DM agree how to handle it. The necropolitan is, in fact, LA +0, but you lose a level in the process of gaining the template (effectively giving it a LA...kind of). It's a pretty low-impact template in that it just basically makes you undead. Your character sounds big and tough. Are you sure you want to NOT have a Constitution stat? Your hit points are going to drop pretty drastically, I'd bet. |

| Masakari448810-30-07, 06:31 PM | Are you sure you want to NOT have a Constitution stat? Your hit points are going to drop pretty drastically, I'd bet. Isn't there a feat somewhere that gives an undead bonus hp per hit die? |
| Bihlbo10-30-07, 10:41 PM | My character just became a lich recently. It was pretty gnarly, I don't recommend losing 4 caster levels and becoming subject to Turn Undead. But it was that or die. Edit: make a new character (of course, he's dead NOW) As for the hit points issue, it is all going to depend on the rolls, of course. For a level 10 character, your average hp as an undead creature is going to be 70 (12 + 6.5*9). A living level 10 ranger with a 13 Con would have 58 (8 + 4.5*9 + 10). However, if you were a powerhouse fighter, you're probably going to drop in hp, because a 16 Con fighter would have 89 (10 + 5.5*9 + 30). Personally, I had some great d12 rolls. I got a 1 and two 2's, but I also got three 10's and two 12's so I had a net gain of 18 hp after coming back to life. |

However, if you were a powerhouse fighter, you're probably going to drop in hp, because a 16 Con fighter would have 89 (10 + 5.5*9 + 30). unless you go necropolitan, you will have a level adjustment. if you have a level adjustment, you wont have (12 + 6.5*9) hit points at level 10, you will have (12 + 6.5*(9-LA)) hit points, so you get the double whammy of no Con, and loss of HD. be VERY careful how you do this. |
| Garonak10-31-07, 04:18 AM | A death knight is create by a god not a lich. There're ways around that: 1) The lich could be a cleric and could petition his god for a Death Knight 2) The DM... |
| Teme10-31-07, 12:28 PM | Isn't there a feat somewhere that gives an undead bonus hp per hit die? I think it was an undead monster special ability, not a feat. I think it was Cha bonus times your HD extra hp. Unholy Toughness perhaps? If my memory serves correct, that is. |
| Lionhearted10-31-07, 05:07 PM | Mummify him! The undead variant of half-dragon.. but instead of breathweapon you get a kickass disease :) |
| Templario10-31-07, 08:48 PM | Being a melee, Ghoul/Ghast can be interesting ideas. Yeah, they have a lot of racial HDs and LA, but much +STR :) |
| Thief_of_Hope11-01-07, 02:45 AM | Everyone else has thrown out all the good WotC undead options, so all I have to add, if you have access to the book, is Green Ronin Publishing's vampire scion from Fang and Fury: A Guidebook to Vampires. Lot's of good vampire flavor and abilities, for a +2 LA. Cheers. Oh, and Happy Halloween. :pumpkin: |
| imakuni6711-01-07, 12:15 PM | If you don't have a limit to the LA of the undead you'll become, go vampire. Otherwise, go ghoul or ghast and you'll have a nice off-hand bite that will paralyze and disease them. But mostly, pick up the libris mortis. ;) |
| Pandapeep11-01-07, 02:40 PM | I had a Ghoul/Ghast Cleric of Hextor/Ordained Champion at level 15 or so, with I think three levels of the Ghoul class from Libris Mortis. He was a bad arse too. |
| ToastedAmphibian11-01-07, 04:24 PM | unless you go necropolitan, you will have a level adjustment. if you have a level adjustment, you wont have (12 + 6.5*9) hit points at level 10, you will have (12 + 6.5*(9-LA)) hit points, so you get the double whammy of no Con, and loss of HD. be VERY careful how you do this. I doubt he will lose HD. Typically your ECL jsut increases when applying a template, you dont subtract hit dice. If he has a LA +2 for instance, he will still be a tenth level character with 10 HD. He will just count as a 12th level character when deciding how much XP he gets from a fight, and how much XP he needs to level. Oh ya, GraveTouched Ghoul. Do that one. Or vampire because not dieing when you drop to 0 HP is a great thing to have as an undead. (Horay gaseous form) |
| imakuni6711-01-07, 05:09 PM | So are you limited by LA or not? |
| Dvus11-01-07, 11:46 PM | I just recently purchased Bottled Imp Games "Lords of the Night: Vampires". It's a great book. Lots of vampire options and rules for playing as undead. There are also two other books in the series that I haven't gotten yet: Lords of the Night: Liches Lords of the Night: Zombies Zombies is supposed to be a really kick rear book. |
