| HernetheHunter12-11-07, 11:22 AM | Races of Renown. Have any of you taken the LA system from Races of Renown: Aasimar & Tiefling, A Guidebook to the Planetouched and seen how it compares to other sources? The reason I ask is to see how accurate it is to WotCs method. Not to lower the Adjustment of races but to gage homebrew stuff. Also, With the advent of the Shadow Genie in Tome of Magic will that mean we see a Darkness/Shadow Genasi in the future? Another reason is so I can create my own half Para- and Quasi elementals. A half-Khayal(Sp?) from Tome of Magic would need to be included in there as well. Trickle down genetics and all that. |
| seker12-11-07, 12:24 PM | they already have planetouched from the plane of shadow, called gloamings, from the Underdark book in the forgotten realms setting. |
| HernetheHunter12-11-07, 01:26 PM | Yes but it isn't a Genasi. |
| YamiShinobi12-11-07, 07:09 PM | about L.A. there is a way you can make Tieflings and Aasimaars into the L.A.+0 category change thier types to humanoid (planetouched) and remove thier energy resistances Revised Tiefling Humanoid (planetouched) +2 Dex +2 Int -2 Cha (3 FP) -Darkvision 60 feet (3 FP) -medium size (0FP) -30 foot speed (0FP) +2 to hide and bluff (2 FP) -Darkness 1/day (6 FP) -favored class Rogue (0FP) -Languages:, common, infernal (0FP) -Total 14 FP Revised Aasimaar Humanoid (Planetouched) +2 Wis +2 Cha -2 Con (3 FP) -Darkvision 60 feet (3 FP) -Medium size (0FP) -30 foot speed (0FP) -+2 listen and Spot (2 FP) -Daylight 1/day (6FP) -Favored class, Cleric (0FP) -Languages:, Common Celestial (0FP) -Total 14(FP) for both, change Outsider (Native) to Humanoid (Planetouched) Strip energy Resistance to balance them i gave the Aasimaar a Con Penalty. why Con? Most Celestial's that i've seen in art were slimmer and frailer. this fixes the L.A. of a planetouched |
| HernetheHunter12-12-07, 12:03 AM | Oh I don't mind the LA and in most cases prefer it. I think that LA+0 planetouched shouldn't be. If you wish to be descended from the planes and don't want to have the LA I believe you should use a feat. The LA system I reffered to was an alternate method published by Green Ronin in their Planetouched book. It was a way of calculating LA that made some sense and was wondering if anybody had tested it against LA's in the Monster Manuals. |
| BugHunter12-12-07, 12:13 AM | The Player's Guide to Faerun already has a way of making planetouched to be LA of zero. It is called lesser planetouched and is located on page 191. |
| HernetheHunter12-12-07, 12:37 AM | I despise lesser planetouched. But I love Half-fiend variety...and Half-Kuo-toa...:D |
| Fimbul12-12-07, 12:43 PM | Also, With the advent of the Shadow Genie in Tome of Magic will that mean we see a Darkness/Shadow Genasi in the future? Another reason is so I can create my own half Para- and Quasi elementals. A half-Khayal(Sp?) from Tome of Magic would need to be included in there as well. Trickle down genetics and all that. I did a Shadow Genasi some years ago, together with a revamp of all Genasi kinds (inclusive Para Genasi, Quasi Genasi, and Dread Genasi (inspired by the Dread Elementals from Ravenloft) ). Let's see if I can recall some parts of it... Shadow Genasi - Ability Adjustment: Strenght -2, Dexterity +4, Wisdom -2 - Darkvision: 120 ft. - Light Blindness - Shadow Mastery: +1 to all Attack Rolls and Saves when fighting in shadowy places. - Type: Outsider (Mortal, Human) - Shadow Immunity: Immune to all ill effects of Shadow Magic. - Clerical Focus: Shadow Genasi clerics must follow a Deity of Shadow. - Favored Class: Ninja - Level Adjustment: +1 ... or something like that. :) |
