I'm looking to play an 25th Level Epic Campaign shortly and I was looking for a playable charector monster to play a fighter or sorceror that hasn't got too many hit dice or LA for ECL. For a fighter I will be adding the Half-Dragon template onto it.

Any suggestions for either/both playable monsters - also there LA and Hit Dice?

03-21-07, 08:55 AM Black Ethergaunts are nice. ECL 20. Has Int +20 and 17 wizard caster levels. In Fiend Folio.

03-21-07, 09:24 AM If you're doing LA buy-off as per Unearthed Arcana, you might want to try a nixie sorcerer. You can buy the LA down to zero by level 18. You get a nice +8 to charisma and +6 to dexterity, as well as a token +2 to intelligence and wisdom. Use the battle sorcerer variant class; that way you get a hit point bonus and a decent BAB. You lose out on 1st-9th spell slots, but that's why you have epic spell slots.

03-21-07, 10:02 AM I'm following the normal ECL = LA + Hit Dice if applicable.

I've only got the MM1 and was wondering if it's worth getting MM2 ,MM3 and MM4 and SS if they have have better playable monster's in them i.e. less hit dice and LA as I like having some ability/SU extra's but not at the cost of a high ELC (5+) otherwise I'll stick to being Human so that I can have at least 20 class level's in fighter/sorceror.

03-21-07, 10:08 AM Well, MM2 has the sylph, which makes an excellent sorc. In theory, you could just keep taking outsider HD (since the rules does allow for you to advance well beyond the suggested HD advancement threshold). At ECL25, this would give you 20 outsider HD, with sorc24 spellcasting(It has LA+5, but casts as HD+4 lv sorc). And you can continue taking outsider HD for as long as you play, thus accruing full bab. It ultimately boils down to an undercosted LA+1 sorc race. You don't get a better deal than that.:)

03-21-07, 10:10 PM I suggest aplying the Lich template to what you are playing, if you are playing a Spellcaster.
d12s are good.

03-21-07, 10:19 PM I think a high lv spellcaster can get a hp score to rival an undead (base13-14, amulet of con, tome of con).

Alternatively, if you do want the undead immunities, perhaps consider the necropolitan template? It is LA+0...:)

03-22-07, 04:18 AM hmmmmm.. what is the LA for adding the paragon template to a monster?

If it's low I could just get a LA+1 monster (aasimar) and then put the paragon template on top of it.

03-22-07, 08:17 AM Lol, sounds like I'm better off with just sticking to Human and then adding the dragon template, it works for both fighter and sorceror (nice breath weapon and bite/claw attacks).

Has 6 HD, +6 LA = 12 ECL plus 13 lv sorc.
Succubus has +16 in Charisma and you can buy many things for Charisma.
You also can use your possession ability to posses the body of any other sorcerer and use other spells.

Sylph is a nice sorcerer-fighter race, especially if you can advance by HD.

You will want a means of getting immunity to subdual damage. Else, any run of the mill foe will have no problems whacking you unconscious and keeping you there. Thus, while you cannot be killed, you won't be able to contribute meaningfully to combat as well.:)

Do This: "The Ultimate Li'l Sniper"

Pixie (ECL5--SavSpec) Gestalted (UnEarthed Arcana) Rouge-Scout 10/Order of the Bow 5 (Complete Adventurer)/Commando 5 (Quintessential Thief)

As U go up N Order of the Bow, long/short/point blank range is nothing 2 U. Think Legolas from LOTR...only smaller. 2 add Nsult 2 Njury, acc. 2 the Savage Species, ALL enemies, no matter WHAT they R and what SR they have, MUST save vs the dreaded pixie sleep arrows! Of course, the DC is only 15 if I remember correctly, but hey, it'll apply 2 EVERYBODY!!!!!!!

I garantee the look on your enemies's faces when you spew quicken spell like ability desecrate, supernatural transformation and fly-by attack will be worth it...
